Here at PDAC2024 (Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada) in Toronto. First stop - Mongolia Day seminar. Look at the SRO crowd! Lots of interest - and appropriately so!

Was very pleased to resume participation in an event which I prize greatly -- the "Africa Accelerating" conference of the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business. This year's event was more than usually innovative in that it was held through simulcast in two separate locations -- Toronto and Johannesburg (the majority in Johannesburg this time, and where I understand there was so much interest they had to turn some last-minute potential registrants away). Next year, the "anchor" city will be Toronto, with an intention to switch anchors between that city and Joburg in succession. Below are some pics of a few of the participants at the Toronto end this year. Great presentations, great networking with friends old and new. My compliments to the organizers for their excellent conduct of what must have been a complicated event!

The recently-concluded PDAC (Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada) conference in Toronto is the largest annual such event in the world. As a member of PDAC's International Committee, it was a more-than-ordinarily busy one for me this year. The international mining community, as always, was well represented in both the exhibition and conference portions of PDAC, and I attended a number colloquia focused on Asia (Mongolia) and Africa especially. Prospects in both regions are on the upswing, it seems, and Canadian company interest is strong. Is your firm among them?

Playing a bit of catch-up here in Ottawa today, now that I have access to photos of the active and successful Canadian presence at 2019 in Cape Town, South Africa. Am proud to have supported the effort, led by CcAfrica CcAfrique, , and many other government as well as corporate allies to reinforce the footprint of Canada as the "preferred partner" for mining in Africa. Respectful relations with local communities, attention to sustainable operations, and gender balance in hiring / promotion count!
