One of my favourite parts of destination wedding travel planning is seeing what’s possible.

I love having the opportunity to explore the wedding spaces, décor and reception options available at the resorts I work with.

Seeing everything firsthand gives me a better sense of how the different pieces can come together from the ceremony setting to the florals, reception details and overall atmosphere.

Every couple has a different vision for how they want their celebration to feel, and understanding the possibilities helps me guide them toward options that suit that vision.

If food matters on vacation, it should shape your resort shortlist.

When I’m helping someone narrow down resort options, I look at dining as part of the overall vacation experience.

It’s not simply about how many restaurants are available. I’m looking at variety, atmosphere, the different kinds of meals you can enjoy throughout the week, and whether the dining experience fits the way you like to travel.

For some people, food is simply part of the day.

For others, discovering new dishes, having a beautiful dinner or enjoying a long lunch is one of the things they look forward to most.

If food is important to you when you travel, it’s worth considering from the very beginning.

The first thing I check when someone sends me a resort isn’t the room.
I usually start with the bigger picture.

Where is it located? What is the gym or spa like? What kind of atmosphere does the property have?

Those details tell me a lot about how the vacation may actually feel.

Some properties are perfect for travellers who want a lively, active stay. Others are better suited to a slower pace. Some are ideal for couples, while others work beautifully for families or groups.

The room is absolutely part of the decision, but I like to understand the overall experience first.

That’s what helps me narrow great options down to the ones that make the most sense for the traveller.

Winter may still feel far away, but travel planning works on a different timeline.

The closer we get to the season, the more certain flight times, room categories and resort options can become limited.

That’s why I encourage clients to start thinking about winter travel earlier than they sometimes expect.

It isn’t only about finding a better price. It’s about having more choice and giving yourself the chance to build the vacation that actually suits you.

You may not need a busier vacation. You may need one that feels easier.

There is often pressure to fill every day away with activities, reservations and plans.

But a meaningful vacation does not have to be packed from morning until night.

It can be slow breakfasts, beautiful surroundings, one or two experiences you are genuinely excited about and enough free time to enjoy where you are.

The right vacation should not feel like another schedule to manage.

Sometimes the greatest luxury is having everything thoughtfully arranged and then being able to simply enjoy it.

The right resort is about more than what catches your eye first.

Beautiful surroundings may draw you in, but the full vacation experience is shaped by the atmosphere, location, dining, activities and how the property fits your personal travel style.

A couple planning a quiet escape may be looking for something entirely different from a family vacation, group celebration or destination wedding.

None of those choices is better than another. They simply require different kinds of resorts and different planning considerations.

That is where working with someone who understands both the destination and the traveller can make a meaningful difference.

A great vacation should not only look beautiful online. It should feel right when you are there.

Myth: destination weddings are automatically cheaper.

A destination wedding can absolutely cost less than a large traditional wedding at home, but it is never automatic.

The overall price depends on the destination, resort, time of year, guest count and the type of celebration you want to create.

Some couples choose a simple ceremony and dinner. Others add private events, upgraded décor, professional photography, entertainment, excursions and additional wedding-day details.

Those choices matter.

The biggest mistake is starting with the assumption that everything will be included because the wedding is taking place at a resort.

The better question is: what experience do you want, and what will it realistically take to create it?

With clear priorities and the right planning, a destination wedding can offer excellent value and a more meaningful experience with the people closest to you.

Unpopular opinion: The cheapest group rate can cost more in the end.

When a group is planning a vacation, the lowest number often gets everyone’s attention first.

But the initial price does not always tell the full story.

A cheaper option may involve awkward flight times, extra baggage charges, longer transfers, limited room categories, stricter payment deadlines or less flexibility if someone’s plans change.

There is also the resort experience itself to consider.

A beautiful property can feel completely different depending on the season, the entertainment, the crowd and the kind of atmosphere your group wants. Some groups are looking for energy and activity. Others want space, quiet and time to reconnect.

The best group rate is the one that delivers the best overall experience not simply the lowest starting price.
