Sometimes the best way to reconnect is to disconnect, slow the pace, and just wander, letting every new discovery along the way become its own opportunity to stimulate the senses and nourish the soul. Ontario’s Highlands is only 2.5 hours east of Toronto and a half an hour west of Ottawa, but a world away from it all. Ontario’s Highlands includes Haliburton Highlands, Lanark County, Ottawa Valley,

and portions of Hastings County, Frontenac County, and Lennox and Addington. With our rugged and mysterious landscape, Ontario’s Highlands is the perfect backdrop for an unrehearsed day, one that is not easily forgotten, but is instead always cherished. Discover untouched wilderness, paddle our waterways, shop unique Ontario-made goods, taste locally-grown or crafted products, or stroll through our quaint towns. 🎉 Congratulations to the winners of our If Nature Had a Voice campaign! 🎉

We were blown away by the creativity and heart in every entry, and we’re thrilled to announce this year’s student winners:

🌎 Grade 2 - VK Greer Memorial PS
Teacher: Mrs. Humphrey
An inspiring message from Earth herself, reminding us to protect plants, animals, and our planet with care.

🌲 Grade 3 - Parkview Public School
Teacher: Ms. Arlette
A heartfelt call to keep the Earth clean and our waters pollution-free.

🌳 Grade 1 - VK Greer Memorial PS
A beautiful nature-inspired poem capturing the sounds of the outdoors.

✨ Honourable Mention goes to Ms. Fisher’s Grade 1 class at Grandview PS, for their touching plea from the trees.

Thank you to all the young artists and writers who gave nature a voice — and to the teachers who helped inspire them 👏

🍓🥕 Celebrate Local Food Week in Ontario's Highlands! 🥕🍓

From June 2–8, 2025, join us in honouring the farmers, producers, and artisans who bring fresh, local food to our tables. Whether it's crisp apples from a nearby orchard, creamy cheeses from a local dairy, or handcrafted preserves from the farmers' market, there's a bounty of flavours waiting to be discovered right here at home.

By choosing local, you're not only enjoying delicious, seasonal produce but also supporting our communities and reducing environmental impact.

Here are some ways to celebrate:
- Visit a local farmers' market or farm stand.
- Look for the Foodland Ontario logo when shopping.
- Dine at restaurants that source ingredients locally.
- Share your favorite local food finds with friends and family.

Let's come together to support our local food heroes and savour the tastes of Ontario's Highlands.
