After careful consideration, Diverse Boat Rentals & Tours will be temporarily halting all operations for the 2026 season.

Diverse Boat Rentals & Tours has been part of the local boating community since 2010, with rental operations beginning in 2011. Over the past fifteen years we have had the opportunity to serve visitors and residents exploring the waters of Georgian Bay.

In recent seasons we have evaluated the long-term sustainability of the business and the changing operational environment for marine tourism in Ontario. A number of factors have contributed to the decision to pause operations, including but not limited to:

• Increasing insurance costs for commercial marine operators
• Regulatory and compliance requirements for passenger vessel operations in Ontario
• Ongoing volatility in fuel pricing and operating expenses
• Carry-forward repairs and equipment damage from the previous season

Given these factors, we believe it is responsible to pause operations while we reassess operational structure, regulatory requirements, and long-term viability.

We sincerely appreciate the support from our customers, partners, and the local community over the past fifteen years.

Further updates will be provided as decisions about future operations are made.

Over the past 15 years, we’ve had the privilege of renting boats, waverunners, and water toys throughout Southern Georgian Bay, and more recently offering private boat charters.

We’re genuinely grateful for the many people we’ve met along the way — especially our repeat customers and the relationships that have grown over time.

After a great deal of consideration, we’ve made the decision to step away from boat and watercraft rentals and to focus entirely on our private boat charters.

The reason is simple.
We go above and beyond with due diligence — detailed briefings, route planning, safety instruction, and clear expectations. But when boats are returned damaged and responsibility isn’t accepted, rental operators are left with very limited options.

While insurance exists, using it for this type of damage often means losing coverage altogether the following season. For rental companies, it’s not as simple as “just using insurance.” Renting boats out becomes a gamble — and one we’re no longer willing to take.

This past season made that decision unavoidable. One group rented three boats, received extensive instruction, and returned all three damaged while refusing to take responsibility. Unfortunately, situations like this often require going to court — which brings added expense, time, and frustration. More often than not, even then, only a portion of the actual costs are recovered.

Going forward, our focus will be entirely on private boat charters — experiences that are fully guided, thoughtfully planned, and tailored to each group. These charters are where we shine, and we’re excited to turn them into something truly special — the kind of experiences Southern Georgian Bay becomes known for.
