Vineyard ASMR 😉 Vineyard teams all over the south Okanagan are starting to prune. While different teams have their own methods, equipment and processes, this particular process is call pre-pruning.

The large cuts help begin the process of untangling the vines, making the hand pruning yet to come easier to manage.

A welcome help in reducing manual labour, it still requires focus and a careful hand to prevent damage to the vines and equipment. Requiring manual controls to function, the operator has to control when to open the blades, how long to hold them open, make position adjustments, including tilt, height, all while steering the tractor over uneven terrain by hand.

Fall brings shorter days and the last stages of tending to the vines for the season 🍇 this Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard had secondary clusters dropped to help the main clusters ripen. This allows the vine to focus resources on fewer clusters, which improves flavour concentration, sugars and ripening.
