There’s something about September at McCreary’s Beach. 🍂☕️

The mornings are a little cooler.
The beach is a little quieter.
The coffee stays hot a little longer.
And suddenly, nobody seems to be in quite as much of a hurry.

After a summer filled with music, laughter, golf carts, beach days and busy weekends, these slower days have their own kind of magic.

A couple of Muskoka chairs. A warm drink. Mississippi Lake sparkling in the morning sun. And nowhere else you need to be.

It’s official - Fisherman’s Hill 506 has new owners! 🏡🌊

After coming out to tour the resort, Mike & Sharon quickly discovered what so many of us already know… there’s just something about McCreary’s Beach. 💙

The lake, the views, the people, the atmosphere - sometimes you just know when you’ve found your place.

We’re so excited to officially welcome Mike & Sharon to the McCreary’s Beach family and can’t wait to see them settle into FH506, meet their new neighbours and start making some pretty great memories here.

🛶 What’s Old is New Again…

Funny how things have a way of coming full circle.

This summer, tucked away in a tiny storage crawl space, we discovered these little birch bark canoes - each one stamped “McCreary’s Beach.”

Our best guess is that they date back to somewhere around the 1970s, when McCreary’s Beach was still a campground, and may have been souvenirs or little treasures sold right here at the resort.

Fast forward roughly 50 years and here we are… still spending our summers by the same lake, still launching canoes and kayaks from the beach, still gathering with family and friends, and still making memories at McCreary’s.

What’s old really does become new again. ❤️

We don’t know the full story behind these little canoes but we have a feeling some of you might.

Were they sold in the old campground store? Did you have one? Do you remember seeing them here?

Calling all longtime McCreary’s campers and historians. Tell us what you know! 👀

Because while McCreary’s has changed a lot over the decades, maybe the best parts really haven’t changed at all.

We acknowledge NONE OF IT. 😂

Movies under the stars. Blankets by the lake. Cottage nights that go well past sunset.

SUMMER. Case closed. ☀️🌙

So Starbucks can calm down with the Pumpkin Spice Lattes, the leaves can kindly return to green, and anyone currently decorating their cottage with mums and pumpkins is officially part of the problem. 😂

We have plenty of summer left, plenty of events still to come, and absolutely no interest in discussing what comes after.

Summer mode remains ON until management says otherwise.

And management is currently in denial. 😎😂

🚨 SHE’S BACK IN THE TANK. 🚨

Apparently, once was not enough.

This Saturday at 3 PM, I will once again be climbing into the dunk tank for DUNK THE GM - because nothing says strong leadership quite like sitting nervously above a tank of cold water while cottage owners line up for their shot at you. 😂💦

The attached video is actual footage from last year’s betrayal…I mean, fundraiser.

And judging by the enthusiasm some of you showed, I have a sneaking suspicion you’ve been practicing your throwing arms all winter. 👀

🎯 Got a maintenance request that took too long?
🎯 Didn't like one of my emails?
🎯 I told you “no” sometime this season?
🎯 Just generally feel like watching your GM plunge into a tank of water?

THIS IS YOUR MOMENT. 😂

And yes, other staff members will be taking their turn in the hot seat - or should I say wet seat - too.

Best of all, it’s for a cause that actually matters. ❤️ We’re raising money for Interval House, so bring your cash, bring your throwing arm, and bring absolutely no sympathy for me.

Sometimes the best moments aren’t the ones on the activity calendar.

They’re the ones in between.

A volleyball.
Bare feet in the sand.
The sun on your back.
And nowhere you need to be next.

As adults, we tend to measure a great vacation by how much we did.

Kids have a way of reminding us that maybe we’ve got that backwards.

Maybe a great summer is measured by how often you lost track of time. ☀️

No schedule. No screen. No rush.

Just a kid, a ball, and a whole afternoon ahead of him.

That’s the kind of summer we hope they remember. 💙

🏡 Would I buy a resort cottage right now?

Actually? Yes.

If cottage ownership was something you dreamed about before COVID prices went a little… feral 😳 - it might be time to take another look.

Because resort cottage ownership is a little different.

Maybe you don't want acres to maintain, grass to cut, a well and septic system to worry about, or every weekend becoming a list of chores.

Maybe you just want the cottage lifestyle. 🌲🌊

Morning coffee on the deck.
Days at the beach.
Afternoons on the lake.
Kids riding bikes to see their friends.
Neighbours who become friends.
And somewhere you can arrive, drop your bags and start enjoying.

And right now, buyers have something they didn't always have:

Time.

Time to tour. Compare. Ask questions. Understand the fees. Look at different cottages and locations - without feeling like you're competing on a game show. 😂

Because here's something I tell people all the time:

Don't fall in love with the cottage first. Fall in love with the resort.

You can paint walls. Change furniture. Update flooring.

You can't change the lake, the location, the amenities or the community.

The cottage is actually the last piece of the puzzle.

So would I buy right now?

If it fit my budget, I loved the resort and found the right cottage?

Absolutely.

And you don't have to be ready to buy to come take a look.

Come walk the resort. Ask the awkward money questions. See what ownership actually looks like.

Worst case? You spend a little time at the lake. 🌊😉

Best case?

“Someday we'll get a cottage” might just become “Who's coming up this weekend?” ❤️

Turns out, you CAN learn new tricks… especially when there’s music, a little vacation courage, and someone willing to yell, “1-2-3… 5-6-7!” 💃🕺😂

We recently held a Salsa Dancing Workshop at the resort, and it was such a great reminder that vacations aren’t only about kicking back and doing nothing.

Sometimes they’re about doing something you’ve never done before.

Learning a few new steps.
Laughing when your feet don’t cooperate.
Dancing with someone you love.
And discovering that maybe, just maybe, you’ve got a little more rhythm than you thought. 😉

There’s no age limit on trying something new, making a fool of yourself, laughing until your cheeks hurt, or adding another story to the collection.

Because the best vacation souvenirs aren’t always things you bring home.

Sometimes… they’re the things you learned while you were here. ❤️

And judging by this video, I think we may have a few new salsa dancers in our midst. 🌶️💃
