Teachers cannot possibly test everything so why not give the student some autonomy in relating what was important to them. While exams and essays have some value in promoting learning, they have had a very good run for their money and are now rather tired forms of evaluation. As one student put it, it is a recipe for ‘remembering, regurgitating and forgetting’. What are your thoughts on long essays and exams?
