Some weekends ask you to plan. This one just asks you to show up.

July 31 to August 3, Port Colborne opens up for the 48th annual Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival. Ships line the Welland Canal. Live music fills H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park. A Kids Zone at King George Park is packed with pony rides and bouncy castles. Classic cars sit in rows at the Vale Health & Wellness Centre, drawing a different kind of attention.

West Street carries the rest: festival food, local shops, and, on King Street, a Historical & Marine Museum holding onto the story that started it all, along with an Indigenous Discovery Circle worth experiencing.

Sunday night ends the way it should: a Boat Parade of Lights, followed by fireworks over the canal!
