Day 21 - Girls shopping trip! Pam had a mani pedi at the centre Mall so Wendy sourced out a location to enjoy Prosecco while waiting. After that we explore the Hard Rock shop and started shopping. We were taken to several “back rooms” where we finally made our purchases. Lots of laughs .

Back to the hotel mid-afternoon for naps and swims . Cocktails at the scenic and beautiful hotel bar before heading back to the city for dinner at Panane . Everyone seemed to be needing a quiet night so we walked down Bangala road before heading back to the hotel for an early night.

Day 20

We say goodbye to 11 of our group this morning that had to head back home. 7 will remain in Phuket for 4 more nights of more rest after our busy 3 week journey.

We are going to surely miss them. This group of 18 who did not know each other before this trip were just strangers travelling together. Now they have developed into a group of new friends who shared unique adventures, laughs and memories of a lifetime.

The 7 that are left spend the balance of day doing not much of anything. Relaxing around the pool. We enjoyed happy hour at the pool deck and then a low key dinner at the hotel.

Day 19- The last full day in Phuket area for the entire group. The early morning tour today was an optional tour. It was a half day cooking class with 13 participants located at the beautiful Blue Elephant Cooking School in Phuket.
We started with our fabulous teacher Nicki walking us to a local market for some fresh ingredients we would be using in our class. She gave us great information on the local market and its beautiful fresh offerings.
Then we returned to the Blue Elephant to our classroom ready with our own aprons and recipes and ingredient listings. It was a very professional set up with tv screens and overhead mirrors. Nicki instructed us on our first dish.
We made a Red Curry Paste from scratch with ingredients in a Mortar and Pestle. It took a bit “elbow grease” but we were all successful making this smooth flavourful paste that would be the base for our Paneang Curry with Chicken. After we were given instructions and a demonstration we headed into the kitchen where we all had individual stations, ingredients and utensils to make our first dish with a time limit !
We did this 3 more times making
- Crispy Golden Bags with Green Curry
- Spicy Sea Bass soup
- Koon Phad April Thai Dim (Black Pepper Prawns)
After completing our four dishes , we proceeded to the beautiful dining room to eat our own creations for lunch!

What an amazing experience ! Lots of pictures!

The rest of the group relaxed , shopped, maybe had a few more spa treatments.

We had our final full group dinner at a Michelin restaurant Suave in Phuket.

Day 18 - The experiences continue! Today is a special morning spent at the Elephant Sanctuary in Phuket. We will experience first learning about these rescued female giants from age 10 to about 70 years of age. One elephant is blind so she is personally looked after . We learn some different facts about the elephants and are also taught what food we will be making for them and feeding them - protein balls. We learn how to hans them their food . We feed them baskets full of watermelon and bananas. We will also be washing them with mud and scrub brushes and finishing with rinsing them .
Once we complete their feeding and “spa services” we learn an easy Pad thai recipe and enjoy a lunch.

We head back to our hotel and enjoy a dip in the pool. Not really cool or refreshing dip as the pool is warm but a dip none the less as we refresh before taking on the crazy Patong Beach downtown in the evening.

A short Tuk Tuk ride to the centre of downtown doe dinner and music and people watching. The centre street called Bangala Road concerns the beach street First st with the next major street called Second Street. original! Bangala Road becomes Pedestrian only and shut off to vehicles between 6pm and 5 am. This is a must as this street becomes jam packed with people and street buskers.

The streets are lined with all sorts of bars and restaurants with live bands, Karoke, table dancers (ladies and ladyboys)massage services and more than you can imagine.
This street is wilder than Nashville and Vegas .
