As we wrap up our season it's great to hear how you have enjoyed your kayak tour with us this summer:

"We had a great time paddling around Alder Bay and the Nimpkish River. It started out as a foggy morning and cleared up just before lunch. We saw a black bear on the shore feeding on shellfish a few minutes outside of Alder Bay. The bear didn't seem to really care that we were in the water, more interested in the food it could find. Eventually it moved off into the woods and we lost sight of it. The water was incredibly clear and we were able to see bright orange sun starfish and crabs on the ocean floor.
Our guide Audrey was personable and very careful to ensure everyone followed COVID-19 protocols to keep everyone safe. Overall, it was a fantastic way to spend a morning while in northern Vancouver Island."

We are open for daily morning and afternoon kayak tours from the Alder Bay Resort on northern Vancouver Island!

Explore the waters and shoreline surrounding Alder Bay on a three hour guided kayak tour. Using stable double kayaks, these kayak tours are suitable for everyone – even those with no prior kayaking experience. As we quietly kayak along the shore we often see bald eagles dotting the trees and curious harbour seals popping their heads above the water as we pass.

Your guides will be on the lookout for wildlife like deer and black bears along the beaches, sea stars and urchins in the shallows, and seals and whales in the deeper water. Your guides will eagerly share with you their knowledge of the area and wildlife during your tour.

Due to COVID-19, we are only accepting bookings in pairs of two to share a double kayak together and we are limiting our group size to 6 guests.

Our first Alder Bay Kayak morning tour combined with an afternoon whale watching boat tour with Seasmoke Whale Watching ran yesterday. The day started off with flat calm water and fog. The fog lifted and we saw eagles and black bears from our kayaks. During the afternoon with Seasmoke humpback whales, orcas, and lots of other marine life was seen.
