The South Canol Road is closed due to a landslide at kilometre 181, which is about 45 kilometres south of Ross River.

Lots of wildfires affecting travel in the Yukon right now, particularly in the Dawson City area. Check wildfire reports as part of your trip planning!

Yukon River Campground, located across the river from Dawson City, is closed due to wildfire activity and an evacuation alert in the area. All campers have left the campground.

We work in coordination with Wildland Fire Management to follow the wildfire situation and ensure public safety in Yukon Parks.

Closures are in place for public safety. Staying away from the campground helps support wildfire operations in the area and allows emergency responders to focus on other priorities.

We thank park visitors for their cooperation and understanding in helping keep Yukoners, firefighting personnel and the environment safe.

Follow Yukon Protective Services for updates on wildfire activity and response, and for information on the current evacuation alert.

Many of the wildfires burning across the Yukon are near popular paddling routes. If you are thinking of heading out on a paddling trip in a wildfire area, or if you find yourself paddling through or near a wildfire, please remember the following:

• Stay in the middle of the river if you pass through a smoky area.
• Use a neck tube or shirt to cover your mouth and nose and get low in your watercraft if you need to reduce smoke exposure.
• Avoid stopping near active fires.
• Always practice the “Three T’s” for all backcountry adventures: leave a trip plan with someone you trust, have the training to take care of yourself, and take the essentials. Learn more about the Three T’s: https://www.adventuresmart.ca/the-three-ts/

Attention boaters and users of Marsh Lake and the Yukon River. Please do not use the boat lock passageway at the Lewes River Control Structure. Please also avoid the shoreline and area on the east side of the boat lock. Fast flowing water at record high levels in the area this past summer has caused some of the shoreline to erode. Stay safe, stay alert, and always wear safety equipment when on or near the water.
