National Day of Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

Today, we acknowledge the Ts’msyen people, whose lands we live, work, and visit on here in Prince Rupert.

This day calls for us to listen, to learn, and to walk alongside Indigenous peoples in truth, healing, and reconciliation. Wear orange, take time to learn from Indigenous voices and perspectives, and find meaningful ways to take part in community events and initiatives that support truth, healing, and reconciliation.

To deepen your understanding and support, we encourage you to attend the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation event at the Seal Cove Salt Marsh starting at 11am.

Exstew River 🏞️

About 118km east of Prince Rupert, Exstew River is the perfect place to get out and explore the great outdoors. Spend the day hiking through the forest, casting a line, setting up camp, or exploring the area’s impressive waterfalls. The hike to the base of the falls is relatively short, and you’ll hear the rushing water long before you see it!

👍 Good to know: The forestry access road off Highway 16 can be rough, with potholes, ruts and unmaintained bridges, so a truck or SUV is recommended. The multi-tiered Exstew Falls also creates plenty of mist, so be sure to bring waterproof layers and sturdy footwear.

Fukasaku 🍣
A Prince Rupert dining experience that’s as local as it gets.

In 2013, Chef Dai Fukasaku opened Fukasaku, creating the first complete Ocean Wise sushi restaurant. His philosophy was simple: keep it local.

Every dish served at Fukasaku features sustainably caught seafood from right here in Northwest BC. Through strong connections with local fishermen and fisheries, Fukasaku sources some of the finest seafood in the region. The seafood travels the minimum distance before it reaches your plate, supports our local fishing industry and, most importantly, delivers incredibly fresh seafood.

With just 14 seats, this intimate restaurant is nearly always fully booked, so reservations are highly recommended!

And if you still need convincing, during a recent visit, Sir Richard Branson called it “hands down, the best meal of my life.”
