A little travel industry reality check… ✈️

I rarely use this page anymore. Not because I don’t love talking travel, but after 15 years in the business, I’m fortunate enough to stay very busy with my repeat clients and referrals – and I LOVE each and every one of you!!!

I’ll be honest, a big reason I don’t spend much time here is because social media can bring a LOT of “just looking” and price shopping. There’s a big difference between someone who is seriously ready to plan a trip and someone who wants me to spend hours finding the cheapest possible option so they can take it somewhere else and book online :(

So, with that said, here is your friendly reminder:
NOW is the time to book your winter vacation. Not December. Not January. And definitely not two weeks before you want to leave, unless you are very flexible on where you go, when you leave and where you stay!!

In the past, Sunwing has offered flights from Saskatoon to these destinations: Jamaica, Huatulco, Los Cabos, Varadero, Cayo Coco, Cayo Santa Maria, Ixtapa and Puerto Plata.
This year, we don’t have those same direct routes from Saskatoon … we have Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Punta Cana. That is IT. That means less supply.

At the same time, there is HUGE demand for travel right now.
Less supply + more demand = higher prices, fewer choices and flights selling out. And yes, planes are already selling out.

So please don’t come to me two weeks before February break asking me to find you a “great deal” because you saw one online last year. Some of those February break flights were already sold out in June and it makes me very sad when I cannot offer you any options at all!

Could a last minute deal happen? Sure. But you cannot plan on it. And if you have specific dates, a specific destination or want decent flight times and resort options, waiting is a gamble.

If you are serious about taking a winter vacation and you want to work with me, now is the time to start planning.

Iberostar training last night was fabulous and so informative- so many exciting things happening with their properties!
Iberostar is BY FAR one of my favourite resort brands. I have stayed at Iberostars in Jamaica, Dominican and Mexico and love them all!

In April, my husband and I took our youngest 2 daughters to Europe. It was the girls’ first time there, and mine and Darren’s first time in this area as well. It was definitely one of the best trips of my life!!

We did a 2-week Mediterranean cruise with Princess Cruises that started and ended in Rome, with stops in Corfu Greece, Dubrovnik Croatia, Kotor Montenegro, Naples Italy - where we saw Pompeii and Ravello - then back to Rome, followed by Sarandë Albania (we did a jeep tour here which was the highlight of the trip for us!), Katakolon Greece where we visited Olympia, Valletta Malta, Sicily Italy, and Naples Italy again, where we did Sorrento and Positano on the Amalfi Coast, before heading back to Rome.

We did an excursion in every port but one because I really wanted to SEE the places we stopped and make the most of the experience. We did 2 Jeep tours, a speedboat tour, a bus tour, a food tour, a tuk tuk tour, a hop-on hop-off bus tour, a private driving tour, a small group driving tour, and even a horse and buggy tour.

We were gone for 17 days and spent 14 nights on the ship. We had a Reserve Mini Suite with a large balcony, and it was absolutely perfect for us. One of the biggest highlights of the cruise was our servers, Francis and Crisal … they made every meal so much fun.

My camera roll and my heart are so full. I’ll never, ever forget this trip, and I’m beyond grateful we got to experience it together ♥️

I’ll forever choose memories with my family over anything!

As many of you know, I also own a busy little slice of paradise called Lil Bean Ice Cream!!
Summer definitely keeps me on my toes, but I’m still at my desk every day (monday to Friday) .... just with limited hours - so I really appreciate your patience!

We officially open for the season on Friday, May 1 and I can’t wait to see all of my local clients and Lil Bean lovers back!
