“My husband and I plan overseas travel with good friends, and this Rhine Christmas Market Cruise trip with AMAWATERWAYS was no exception. The four of us were all exceptionally pleased with our trip from beginning to end. Their careful planning and comprehensive preparation along with their care during the cruise made the entire experience seamless and enjoyable.
As first-time river cruisers, we were excited and cautiously optimistic. What we experienced upon arriving in Basel and boarding the ship exceeded all our expectations. The professionalism and warmth of the crew, the comfort and amenities on board, and the many daily and thoughtful touches of hospitality and engagement throughout the journey made every day a delight.
On board, we enjoyed an exceptional variety of delicious, beautifully prepared meals, many of which gave us the opportunity to experience new cuisines and flavours. Food was available throughout the day, always fresh, locally inspired, thoughtfully curated by the chefs, and expertly prepared.
In addition to the charming Christmas Markets, each day offered a selection of fascinating excursions throughout the local areas. We visited places such as a music box museum, some stunning cathedrals, and interesting castles, all led by knowledgeable guides and fully included in our package.One of our favorite things was exploring the old towns and city centres, searching for the specific areas/events/shops that either we had researched or the cruise director had told us about, providing us opportunities to engage with the cultures of the local towns we disembarked at for the day.
We chose this cruise because we wanted to experience the charm and historical roots of European Christmas Markets. Beyond their unique locations, each market had its own distinct character, and we enjoyed seeking out the special foods, handcrafted items, and traditions that made each one memorable.
The evening markets were especially enchanting, filled with twinkling lights, festive music, and the inviting aromas of local sausages, warm mulled wine, and spicy gingerbread kuchen. Whether visited during the day or at night, every market was infused with the joy and anticipation of the approaching Christmas season.
It was a wonderful trip – engaging, filled with new experiences, enjoyed with old friends, experienced with new ones.”
