Let’s talk about the most misunderstood, underestimated, and absolutely terrifying place at 35,000 feet: the airplane bathroom.
It is not for the weak. It is not for the barefoot. It is not for those who still believe in innocence.
1. WEAR. YOUR. SHOES.
I cannot stress this enough.
If you think that floor is just “water”… you are living in delusion.
That is not condensation. That is not turbulence splash. That is a cocktail of regrets from 187 strangers.
Flip flops? Brave.
Bare feet? Unhinged.
Socks? Seek help.
If your shoe sticks to the floor when you step in… just know it’s too late.
2. Close the lid before flushing
That vacuum flush is not your friend.
It is an aggressive, chaotic force of nature.
It will aerosolize everything.
Everything.
Close. The. Lid.
Unless you enjoy mystery particles and personal growth.
3. Do NOT go during drink service
Nothing humbles you faster than trying to squeeze past a cart, three knees, two elbows, and a flight attendant holding hot coffee while announcing “sorry, sorry, sorry” like you’re in a Canadian apology marathon.
You will:
• Hit someone’s armrest
• Get stared at by 14 people
• Trip on a backpack
• And somehow still not make it in time
Just wait. Hydration is not worth public shame.
4. The Prime Bathroom Window
There is a sacred time.
A golden window.
A blessed 10–15 minutes when the aisle is clear and society is calm.
This magical moment is:
✔ Shortly after meal service is cleared
✔ Or just before the “we will be landing shortly” announcement
This is when the bathroom is:
• Cleaner
• Less traumatized
• And not hosting a line of people doing the p*e dance in unison
5. Bring your own tissue. Trust no one.
Sometimes there is toilet paper.
Sometimes there is half a roll.
Sometimes there is hope and a cardboard tube.
Bring tissues. Always.
Because nothing builds character like realizing too late that the airline has chosen chaos.
6. Touch NOTHING directly
Use:
• Paper towel for the door
• Your elbow for the latch
• Your soul for emotional protection
That sink button has seen things.
That handle has been through wars.
7. The mirror is a liar
That lighting is designed to humble you.
You did not suddenly age 12 years.
You are not that pale.
You are not that shiny.
The mirror is the enemy. Keep moving.
8. Do not linger
This is not a spa.
This is not a reflection chamber.
This is not the time to scroll Instagram.
In. Do your business. Out.
Anything longer than 90 seconds and people start judging. And by people, I mean me.
9. If you hear turbulence… abort mission
Nothing says “bad life choice” like trying to p*e while the plane is doing the cha-cha.
Sit. Down. Live. Try again later.
10. Final rule: Respect the chaos
We are all in this flying tube together.
We are all just trying to survive.
Be efficient. Be clean. Be kind.
And for the love of all things holy… flush

🇯🇵 First time in Japan? Here are 10 tips I learned on my recent trip that I want to share with all my clients.

1. **Get a Suica card** 🚆
Specifically the electronic one. So easy for getting around all cities in Japan.

2. **Carry cash** 💴


3. Google Maps is your best friend** 📍

4. **Don’t talk loud on trains** 🤫
Everyone is in silent mode. You should be too.

5. **Convenience store food is elite** 🍱
7-Eleven will have you questioning your life choices back home.

6. **Trash cans are rare… weirdly rare** 🗑️
You will carry your trash longer than expected. Bond with it.

7. **Learn a few Japanese words** 🗣️
Even a small “Arigatou” = instant respect boost.

8. **No tipping!** 🙅‍♂️
Trying to tip might confuse people more than help.

9. **Pack light** 🎒
Those stairs at train stations!!

10. **You will get lost… and it’s okay** 🌸
Half the fun is accidentally finding cool places you didn’t plan.

Japan = 10/10 would get lost again 🇯🇵
