Expedition Canoe/Kayak Guiding & Instruction Pawistik is the Cree word for 'swift flowing' waters or Rapids. Pawistik also supplies paddling equipment.

Water and Rivers are my life and this business is essentially a culmination of my focus in life and what it is that i do for work. For me work may be teaching Canoe or Kayak lessons in Saskatchewan or around the globe, Swiftwater Rescue courses, Guiding Paddling trips or studying the environment, or supplying equipment to make your experience more enjoyable. nal Research groups setting up Field Programs, Mining or consulting companies, Environmental Agencies, Educational groups such as elementary, high school, college or university groups, Search and Rescue organizations, Canoe and Kayak Outfitters, clubs and community groups and Military.

Paddle Canada Advanced Tandem Canoeing Skills Course this past week. Over 4 days we had countless highlights but potentially the best one ever was a comment said at 1730h whilst running a rapid and regrouping in an eddy together:

“I am so happy with today I could stop now and wouldn’t need to paddle a single rapid more”

Unfortunately the instructor Jimmy MacDonald was a disappointment and kept them running rapids until 1930h on the evening so they could return exhausted and fulfilled.

Drastic measures by Parks Canada to protect aquatic ecosystems…. Curious how much affect this will truly have on stopping the spread of whirling disease

Yoho and Kootenay closure for 2024...

Parks Canada made this announcement today: "To reduce the further spread of whirling disease, all waterbodies in Kootenay and Yoho national parks are closed to watercraft use and angling for the 2024 season. This is necessary to protect vulnerable fish populations and sensitive ecosystems from aquatic invasive species."

Banff National Park is not affected by this closure (yet), but this is a powerful reminder to drain, clean and dry your kayak, canoe, or paddleboard after you've been out on the water.

Expect to see a more formal notification in the next few days.
