Well… this is not the update we hoped to share.

The Saskatchewan Water Security Agency reduced water flow from Lake Diefenbaker over the weekend. Unfortunately, this information was not communicated publicly in advance, leaving many—including us—caught off guard by how quickly river conditions changed.

Because of rapidly reduced river flows and unsafe water conditions caused by low water levels and high sandbars, The Prairie Lily will pause our cruises for the next week and suspended ticket sales for the following two weeks.

As a result of the reduced water outflows, we regret to inform you that all scheduled Prairie Lily cruises up to and including June 4 have been cancelled. In addition, ticket sales for cruises scheduled between June 5 and June 18 have been temporarily suspended until river conditions improve.

We will personally contact all guests holding tickets for cruises through June 4 regarding options to book a later date, issue a gift certificate, or offer a refund. Guests with bookings between June 5 and June 18 will also be contacted directly should those cruises need to be cancelled.

In the meantime, if you see us on the river, we are training new crew, so we are ready for you when this issue clears up.

Thank you for sticking with us. The support from this community means everything. Please refer to our website for updates.

Planning something a little special this summer?

Having a space set aside on The Prairie Lily just for your group makes your special day special. Fresh air, easygoing atmosphere, and a setting that makes it simple to connect and enjoy the moment. Whether it’s a work gathering, a celebration, or time with friends and family, it has a way of feeling both relaxed and memorable.

As ticket sales get underway, available dates to host events tend to be spoken for fairly quickly. If you have something in mind, it’s always nice to get a date tucked away early so you have one less thing to think about.

Whenever you’re ready, we’re here to help make it come together.

The South Saskatchewan River is getting the water refresh it needs, and everything is lining up for The Prairie Lily’s return to the water!

There’s a certain je ne sais quoi about being out on the river. Could it be the views? The fresh air? The feeling of slowing down for a while? It’s all that and more and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Cruising tickets are now on sale, and our first 2026 cruise sets sail Friday, May 22 — just in time for a beautiful spring weekend on the river. Whether you’re planning a relaxing afternoon, catching up with friends, celebrating something special, or simply looking for an excuse to soak up some sunshine and fresh air, we’d love to welcome you aboard The Prairie Lily. Spring on the river has a way of making everything feel a little lighter, and we can’t wait to share it with you again. Come join us on board!

Happy Mother’s Day!

To all the moms, grandmothers, and mother figures: Today is for you. Thank you for the care you give, the way you show up, and all the moments—big and small—that make a difference every day. And for those whose mothers are no longer with us, we’re holding those memories close today.

Wishing you a beautiful day, however you’re celebrating.

There is a lot of snow pack in the Rockies and a lot of water in Lake Diefenbaker so water will come! But right now, the Water Security Agency is managing flood conditions all over the province. The North Saskatchewan is not regulated by a dam like the South Saskatchewan is, so that water needs to flow through first.
When the WSA is able to concentrate on the South Sask, we’ll see some change to our river. Until then, we all wait….

In the meantime, we are looking at some dockside options like weekend brunch, morning coffee and maybe an beverage on the upper deck.

Dear Friends,

After many wonderful years, it’s time for us to set sail on our new adventure—retirement! While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to The Prairie Lily and all of you, we're filled with gratitude for all the laughter, support, celebrations, and memories we’ve shared along the way.

We want to say a special thanks to our friends, guests, and crew who stood by us during this difficult time when the sandbars were too high for The Lily to cruise. Your words of encouragement, letters of support to government officials and decision-makers, and your generosity when you joined us for a meal, brunch, or an afternoon drink—all without a cruise—were deeply moving. You continually reminded us what true community really is. A big, heartfelt thank you to all of you.

It's been an honour to serve Saskatoon and Saskatchewan and get to know so many of you and your families. It’s hard to put into words just how much this experience has meant to us. Your kindness, loyalty, and encouragement have meant more than words can say. It's been a privilege to be a part of your lives.

We look forward to seeing you around Saskatoon, in particular at the local businesses we partnered with over the years: Flavours and Smiley's, 9 Mile Legacy Brewing, The Jazz and Fireworks Festivals, Co-op Liquor, Wonderhub, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan, or just out and about enjoying life along the Meewasin Valley.

Thank you for being such a special part of our lives. We wish all of you much happiness, good health, laughter, love, and success.

Well, we see by the clock on the wall…That it’s time to bid you one and all

It’s hard to believe, but this weekend marks the final chance to come aboard The Prairie Lily.

While our cruising plans didn’t set sail, we still had lots of laughs, countless smiles, shared a few meals, and made some lasting dockside memories with so many of you. The Lily has always been more than a vessel — it’s been a gathering place where friends and family can connect, relax, and enjoy being together.

This weekend is your last opportunity to soak in the unique atmosphere, enjoy the view, and be part of our ship’s story before we close for good. Our last Dockside Drinks will be today (3:30 - 8:00 pm), tomorrow (1:30 pm - 8:00 pm), and Sunday (1:30 pm - 5:00 pm). No reservations necessary and, if you mention this post, we'll waive the usual $5 cover fee when you purchase an adult beverage.

Stop by, raise a glass, and let’s make these final days unforgettable!

Then, it is a wrap to our 14 years welcoming you. The last of the tickets are available on our website. www.theprairielily.com

Have you seen SaskToday's survey, "How should Saskatoon resolve the Prairie Lily's docked season?" Their introductory information to the survey is sort of right (not completely) but the survey results need to be clear. This has become a political question so the only answer is "Seek government intervention for future, scheduled water management plans."

Other options include pushing the WSA to release water. Nope. We've been doing that since April. We could accept the dock season and do dockside events. We've been doing that but, with our thanks to those that have joined us this summer, it's a money loser and not sustainable. Additionally, the problem WILL NOT go away until there is a flush. Look out spring 2026! The fourth option "Look into alternative river tourism without reliance on deep water navigation." means "No riverboats in Saskatoon."

This is really not about The Prairie Lily. We have two weeks left this season and are retiring. If Saskatoon wants to be a "River City", someone has to make a plan and clean up the sandbars. Only a large flush will do that. Regardless of what the survey says.

CALL TO ACTION: Please fill out the survey. As it is a news site, we cannot post a link. Google SaskToday website and go to Saskatoon > Saskatoon Community Discussion. When you've done that, please share. Thanks.
