In collaboration with , we invite artists from Quebec to apply for a one-week art residency at and Nova Scotia artists for a one-day workshop opportunity!

Both artists will participate in a 6-hour creative workshop introducing a new practice such as screen printing, block printing, or natural dyeing, with artist (Alissa) at her Seaforth studio.

**Eligibility Criteria and Desired Profile - Nova Scotia Artist (one day workshop)**

- Be a woman or anyone identifying as such
- Be a professional artist or in the process of professionalization
- Have an interest in screen printing, block printing, and/or natural dyeing techniques
- Reside within a maximum of 30-35 km from the workshop location (Seaforth), including Halifax and surrounding areas.

Everyone who has stayed at the cabin since artist Annie Legault, founder and creator of Amulette Studio, completed her in-situ installation agrees—it’s the perfect addition to the mezzanine.

We couldn’t have imagined a better fit for our needs: a functional fine art wall crafted from hand-braided ropes that not only ensures safety but also beautifully reflects the region’s deep-rooted fishing heritage—a tradition that remains central to the area today.

Each year, it’s a privilege to welcome artists from diverse backgrounds and practices. In 2024, we hosted 12 art residencies in Nova Scotia and 4 in Quebec, along with a painting workshop co-organized with artist Florence Rivest for the local community during her residency.

The artists weave an intimate connection with the land—a mutual relationship that transforms both. For many, their creations become deeply infused with the environment, while the land itself is subtly shaped by their presence.

Spring 2025 is nearly fully booked with another dynamic group of artists from coast to coast, and we’ll be opening our fall residency calendar very soon. Stay tuned!

Chaque année, c’est un privilège d’accueillir des artistes d’horizons et de pratiques divers. En 2024, nous avons accueilli 12 résidences d’artistes en Nouvelle-Écosse et 4 au Québec, ainsi que réalisé un atelier co-organisé avec l’artiste Florence Rivest pour la communauté locale pendant sa résidence.

Les artistes tissent un lien intime avec la terre, une relation mutuelle qui les transforme. Pour plusieurs, leurs créations s’imprègnent profondément de l’environnement, tandis que le paysage est subtilement façonné par leur présence.

On a foggy May afternoon, I made my way to the beach in front of the cabin to meet artist-in-residence for her portrait session. Standing gracefully with her feet rooted in the sand, the visual artist moved with the rhythm of the sea breeze. Her movements embodied the interplay of line, space, and stillness—an echo of the themes found in her creations.

Originally from Lebanon and now based in Montreal, Pia’s work invites contemplation of identity, societal belonging, duality, and the pursuit of meaning.

On a golden end of October morning, I made my way to the cabin to meet .rivest , a professional illustrator from Montreal. True to her love for the outdoors, she was already up, painting on a huge canvas on the deck. Flo primarily works with gouache, focusing on environmentalism and biodiversity. She shares her love for nature and passion for art through her project, .land , which combines art classes with expeditions in the outdoors. During her art residency, she prepared for her solo exhibition and led an outdoor gouache workshop for the local community.
