Stolen ATV – Please Help

My son’s 1991 Polaris Trail Boss ATV was stolen, and we’re reaching out in hopes the community can help.

Last summer, he was gifted the old ATV—one destined for the scrapyard—and spent the past year pouring his time, energy, and savings into bringing it back to life. Along the way, it became more than a project. It turned into a hub of community for the local teen boys who came by to help, troubleshoot, cheer him on, and learn together through the wins and setbacks.

This spring, the rebuilt ATV finally hit the nearby trails for a test run, followed by a pack of excited teens. Unfortunately, a tie rod snapped and the vehicle had to be left temporarily. My son removed the broken parts and began searching for a welder. When he returned a few days later with a replacement, the ATV had been dragged away—stolen.

We still have the key and the VIN. A police report has been filed, and we’re asking anyone who might hear or see anything to contact the North Bay Police or email us at [email protected].

We’ve set up a GoFundMe to help him start over with another rebuild. If you’d like to support or share, here’s the link:

Thank you so much for any help in spreading the word or keeping your eyes open. Let’s show these hardworking teens that their efforts matter.

Today is National Black Bear Day!

Did you know …

In areas where it is permitted, legal hunting is one of the major causes of death for black bears, especially for bears two years of age and older. With the spring bear hunt reinstated in Ontario, black bears are the only big-game animal to be targeted at this time. The hunt is permitted from May to mid-June, when cubs are only about four months-old. During the hunt, bears are lured with bait during a time when they are very hungry – just after emerging from hibernation, when food is still scarce. Although it is illegal to kill nursing mothers, it may be impossible to distinguish females from males. As a result, many bear cubs are orphaned.
