It looks like we are heading into another hotspell at Maggie’s Hill. For outdoor fires we are currently under a fire advisory which means they are only permitted under certain conditions and a spark screen must be used at all times. If you are hoping to have a campfire please check with me first to see if it is permitted. Meanwhile ai enjoyed this view of our k**b and kettle grasslands tonight while I maintained the trails. I highly recommend an evening stroll to cool off during this next hot spell **bandkettle

Well…she has finally arrived and with gusto! We managed to keep Maggie’s Hill warm for our guests despite record breaking cold. Now that the outdoor temps are becoming more humanly possible, the trails are inviting you for skiing or snowshoeing. Winter may be a bit late arriving but she has arrived here as beautiful as ever.

Due to a cancellation Aug 23-September 3 is now open. This falls within our summer dates which means it is a 6 night minimum booking and it is a wonderful chance to relax and enjoy the warm breezes of late summer on Maggie’s Hill. Besides a couple of mid-week dates in September, we are now booking into November. You can book online through either Airbnb or VRBO to take advantage of this unexpected opportunity…or plan your winter stay.

Our trails had their first cut today much later than usual. I have held off on trail maintenance due to extremely dry conditions and a fire ban that restricts motorized vehicles off road. But we have had a couple of rainfalls and the fire ban is now a fire restriction so I have taken the opportunity to give the trails a wee trim. It is still very dry so we will hope for more rain but in the meantime at least you can see where the trails start and stop

Our guests often comment on how much they appreciate being able to relax and disconnect during their stay…and to rediscover the pleasures of books, puzzles, boardgames. Thanks to a recent guest, you can now enjoy a game of Tic Tac Toe on this rustic game board. While Maggie’s Hill is often called a magical place, we know our amazing guests are a big part of that magic. Thank you!

This year I have let the grass grow long around the loghouse to help our spring pollinators and support our fire bans. I am loving all of our dandelions! 🐝
