This eye-catching new facility is located on Highway 71 in the heart of Sioux Narrows, Ontario, Canada. The building location is fitting as it houses a dedicated history of sportfishing in Northern Ontario, a sport held dear to the heart of locals, summer residents and tourists alike. Since opening its doors in June of 2012, the centre has put on various exhibits and seminars, both art and fish. I
t showcases the famous Sioux Narrows bridge, the bridge's history, as well as exhibits antique boats, motors, and fishing rods, and detailed descriptions of various fish species. There is also a freshwater fish aquarium that houses species procured by a local girl. Some of these donations include a collection of vintage motors, an original Haas boat and an old Boston Whaler that are all accompanied by their own individual histories. Looking through the floor to ceiling windows, visitors get a perfect view of famous Lake of the Woods. This centre is a great place to learn more about fishing, local history, other places to visit and see around town or to just simply read a book in our cozy leather couches by the fireplace.
