Come to the HaiCo Open Houses!

Drop in, grab a snack, enter to win a prize, and have a conversation with the HaiCo Board and the HaiCo teams.

We’ll provide dinner and share a short presentation partway through with time to ask questions, learn more about HaiCo, and talk with us about what matters to you.

Door prizes include:
• $1,000 cash prize for adults
• $100 cash prize for children and youth ages 16 and under

If there are still questions after we reopen the Open House at 7:00 pm, a Board member and HaiCo team member will be available to continue the discussion and answer any remaining questions.

Taan Forest is proud to support the Cultural Wood Program user by helping transport cedar from a mill at the Skidegate Industrial Site to their carving shed. While our role was a small one, we recognize the significance of every step in the journey that brings these cultural materials into the hands of Xaayda (Haida) artists.

It is a privilege to contribute in a practical way to work that is deeply connected to our people, our history, and our future. The continuation of Xaayda giinaa.ah (Haida cultural ways) is strengthened when we all play our part.

It was our pleasure to attend both Haida Days in Gaw Tlagée last week and Skidegate Days July 18 in HlGaagilda this summer.

On behalf of the CEO and staff, háw’aa│hawaa to everyone who stopped by the HaiCo booth to visit with us. We greatly appreciated the time people took to share their ideas, experiences, questions, critiques, and support. These conversations help shape our work and ensure we continue moving forward in a way that reflects the priorities and values of our communities.

Congratulations again to Svea Poulson and Charlotte Marks, the winners of our cash door prizes. We would also like to give a special shout out to Gordy Jones, who kindly brought hot coffee to the team during a cool and drizzly day in Gaw Tlagée. Your thoughtfulness was greatly appreciated and certainly helped keep the team warm and energized.

We look forward to continuing these important conversations at our upcoming HaiCo Haida Laas community engagement sessions. Join us on October 5th at Kwiiyaans Community Hall in Gaw Tlagée and October 6 at Naagudgiikyaganags (Small Hall) in HlGaagilda for an open house, dinner, and presentations. We will also be participating in the upcoming OMVC and SBC Annual Open Houses when the dates are announced.
