This whole route is "paved" but that pavement is getting pretty rough between Sooke and Lake Cowichan... So this isnt a fast paced road trip, but thats part of the appeal 👌

What an adventure! Over 1200km of driving in one weekend away! Here's how we turned a joy ride around the BC Interior into a unique vacation we'll never forget.

- Last ferry off the island Thursday night so we could burn through the lower mainland with minimal traffic and head to Squamish for the night. Stayed at the University for $150 in a standard dorm room with a private bathroom.

- On the road early from Squamish. Stopped at Green Lake for a dip, and Brandywine Falls for a quick hike. Pulled into Pemberton for lunch and Lillooet for cabin supplies. Got to the ranch just in time for dinner!

- Two nights at Montana Hill Guest Ranch in a private log cabin overlooking the rolling pasture. Relaxing, suntanning, lake swimming, horse riding, and enjoying life with little to no schedule required.

- We found a few great stops enroute to the Ferry to make the long drive home a little more exciting. Stopped in the Kamloops area at Privato Vineyard and Winery for a tasting, and then went to Lac Le Jeune for a dip! We had JUST enough time to go dash through the Othello Caves, making it for our ferry reservation with 15 minutes to spare!! Vacation time fully maximized!!

Don't let the cost of gas keep you close to home - there's nothing better than the open road!
