To some this may not look like anything special.
But this is the near end of a 40 year journey of a man that loved his car and refused to give up.
75 Duster with a slightly modified 383 magnum.
We helped this customer with a full rewire, front to back, We dynoed this engine many years ago and upgraded many systems.
SS performance did a full frame decades
Ago, it then went to Dave Blue for a full body and paint.
This clip was the first time in 40 years that this engine has come to life in it's old engine bay.

Now that we know it runs correctly and all the sub systems and are good we will clean up the wiring harness and final details before closing the hood.

Congratulations Tim Warren you will be cruising the black top this summer.

Here is a stellar example of where longevity, hopes and dreams can die.
This little piece is a oil pressure relief valve.
Again we rinsed it twice. But with a little more diligence and time we were able to clear the last of the carnage out of the oiling system.
In the second picture you can see 2 pieces of bronze which once resided in a connecting rob bearing.
I'm very confident to state that if this was missed it would have once again found it's way back

We can never stress enough to people building thier own engines or any thing else for that matter.
Clean, clean and clean again.
This is the heart of your engine.
The oil pump is where reliability starts and ends.
This particular pump came out of 1000 polaris that, although it didn't come completely unglued. It did have excessive bearing clearances.
We washed this pump 3 times. To the point no apparent contamination was showing.
After complete disassembly and inspection we found some left overs that could have severely shorten this engines life span.

We just finished up a 700 Honda pionier with the ever so typical cam shaft failure.
Very reminiscent of 305 v8 made in Mexico back.in the 80's

We seemed to be on a run of big bore Polaris twin engines.we Finished one up and now have 2 more, all had number 1 cylinder rod failure along with front main bearing.
We've been examining the oiling system and how it was designed by Polaris and are starting to narrow down the failure to the design of the oil pumppick up and the fact that these bikes when used in deep water are nose up in deep water, causing a starving the oiling system thus putting excessive premature wear on the front bearings.
Now the mission is to devise a solution to add some durability to the factory design

Always think, how can I do this easier?
Works for cars, why not quads.
Diff removals aren't much fun on the floor or a table.
This is just right!

Almost looks like it was meant to be in there. Builds like this are alot more satisfying once you hit the road.

What do you do on a custom install and no one used a driveshaft the size you need.

Well, if you're our shop , you make a longer one shorter
A little lathe work, then carefully fit the shaft end back into the tube.
Index it back to original.
Carefully true up the assembly and weld.

Past shafts have easily lived behind a BB chevy turning swamped BOGGERS.
Competing in the 300 class mud drags.
Lauches were aided by 4500rpm side steps.

This shaft should live just fine behind the 170hp and 300pft.
