Effective April 23, 2026, WestJet has increased checked baggage fees.


New Fee Structure below ⤵️
The following increases apply to tickets purchased on or after April 23, 2026:

Prepaid Bags: Fees for the first and second checked bags have increased by $5 each.

Airport Check-in: Fees for the first and second bags paid at the airport have increased by $10 each.

Specialized Baggage: Fees for excess, overweight, or oversized baggage have jumped by $50.

UltraBasic Fares: Total costs for a single checked bag in this class can now range between $45 and $123 depending on the destination and payment timing.

Ways to Save 💸
Prepay Early: Booking bags online at least 24 hours before your flight typically saves $10–$20 compared to airport prices.

Teal Rewards: WestJet Teal Rewards members continue to receive a $5 discount on their first prepaid checked bag.

WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard: Primary cardholders (and up to eight guests on the same itinerary) still receive their first checked bag free.
