As travel season continues, I wanted to share a few important reminders about travel insurance. While it may not be the most exciting part of trip planning, understanding your coverage before you travel can save a lot of stress if something unexpected happens.

✔️ If you are aware of a medical condition, it is generally considered a pre-existing condition.

✔️ A pre-existing condition is not limited to a diagnosis. It can also include symptoms, medical investigations, tests, treatments, follow-up appointments, or medication changes.

✔️ The stability period for travel medical insurance is based on the date you leave your home province—not the date you purchase the policy.

✔️ If your health changes after purchasing insurance, contact the insurance provider right away to determine how those changes may affect your coverage.

✔️ During the claims process, insurance companies may review medical records and physician reports to assess eligibility for coverage.
