In a season full of special moments, I am always happy to be treated to yet another one.

This morning we got to hit the water with the incomparable Captain Bob from Discovery Sea Adventure Tours. While there were no big whales today, we saw hundreds of white-sided dolphins, a family of bald eagles, countless amazing geological features, and a huge number of seabirds.

But of all the seabirds, this baby murre stole the show.

I’ll have more photos of this little fella coming, but I wanted to share this special moment first. It certainly looks like Mom was close by, keeping a watchful eye on things.

Another pretty special Newfoundland morning.

Back in the Twillingate area, even if only for one night.

We certainly made the most of our short stay, and I was really happy to have the opportunity to spend some time back in one of my old stomping grounds.

There’s something about Twillingate that keeps pulling me back. The landscape, the water, the old fishing stages and the quiet little corners that have become familiar over the years.

It always feels a little like coming home.

This photograph was made in Back Harbour during that short visit. One night wasn’t nearly enough, but it was good to be back.

Another treat from this morning was the bald eagles.

We saw a family of them out on the water, and this particular one seemed just a little put out by our presence.

I’m not sure what we did to offend him, but judging by that look, I’m pretty sure we were in his way.

Sometimes the wildlife has opinions too.
