Travelers from all around the world come to Stewart and Hyder to see bears fishing during the salmon spawning season. It's something quite spectacular to see! ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿป

This amazing pic was taken at the Fish Creek Wildlife Observation Site in Hyder, Alaska, 9.5 kilometers (5.9 miles) from the Stewart Visitor Centre.

Please remember, although there is no border crossing going into Hyder travelers must report to the Canada Border Services Agency on their way back to Canada, so make sure to bring your valid travel documents with you! ๐Ÿ›‚๐Ÿ˜Š

Step into the ancient rainforests of Stewart and you will instantly notice something magical draped over the old-growth branches: Usnea longissima, commonly known as Old Manโ€™s Beard. ๐Ÿง”๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŒฒ

This remarkable lichen isn't just a stunning sight; it is natureโ€™s ultimate purity test. Because Usnea breathes directly from the atmosphere, it can only thrive where the ecosystem is perfectly intact and the air is flawlessly clean. โœจ

While it has vanished from many parts of the Pacific Northwest, it still blankets our coastal forests in long, graceful strands. ๐Ÿƒ

When you look up into the canopy here, you are looking at one of the cleanest atmospheres on Earth. Come breathe the pristine air of Stewart and witness the living breath of the forest for yourself. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ‘€
