🇮🇹 Worth the Detour? Amalfi Coast vs Ischia

The Amalfi Coast gets all the attention, and for good reason. Dramatic cliffs, colourful towns, incredible views... it’s one of those places that really does look like the photos.

But just across the Bay of Naples is Ischia.

It’s greener, more relaxed, known for thermal spas and beautiful beaches, and it has a much slower island feel.

So if you had to choose...

☀️ WINTER VACATION PSA: If you’re planning to go south this winter, this is the week I’d be looking seriously at booking.

We’re coming to the end of what has been a really strong early-booking window for winter packages, and I expect things to start shifting as we move further into September.

Right now, there are some excellent promotions available on select packages:

✈️ Air Canada Vacations has a buy one, second traveller 50% offer on eligible packages.
🏝️ Transat has strong pricing and promotions in market.
☀️ WestJet Vacations has offers available as well.

More importantly, there’s still a good selection of resorts, room categories and flight options.

That’s the part people sometimes forget. Waiting isn’t only about whether the price changes. It can also mean the resort you wanted is still available… but the room you wanted isn’t. Or the good flight disappears. Or your dates become much more expensive.

So if you’ve been saying, “We really should book something for February…”

The trip I’d recommend if…

…you want to see Europe, but you don’t want to race through it.

A river cruise.

You unpack once, wake up somewhere new almost every day, and instead of spending half your vacation navigating train stations, airports and hotel check-ins, you actually get to enjoy where you are.

There’s still plenty to see and do, but the pace feels completely different.

Morning walking tour. Lunch back onboard. Maybe wander into town again in the afternoon. W**e on deck while the scenery goes by.

It’s Europe with a little more breathing room. ❤️

And honestly, that’s becoming one of my favourite ways to travel.

🌎 Okay. I think I’ve found my dream trip.

Not my “maybe I’ll book this next year” trip.

My “if I win the lottery, please don’t try to contact me for 28 days” trip. 😂

Abercrombie & Kent has created a journey that travels to all seven continents by private jet.

Antarctica. Easter Island. Iguazú Falls. Uluru. Vietnam. Laos. The Maldives. Egypt.

All in one extraordinary trip.

And because apparently my imaginary lottery-winning self has standards, the private jet has lie-flat seats too. 😆

Is this within most people’s travel budget? Absolutely not.

But I think there’s something fun about having a completely outrageous, no-limits dream trip. The one you’d choose if money, vacation time and logistics simply weren’t part of the equation.

This one is mine.

Now I want to know yours.

🏝️ Two resorts can cost almost exactly the same and give you completely different vacations.

One might have the better beach.

One might have amazing food but a much livelier atmosphere.

One might be perfect for couples, while another is far better for families.

And one might look gorgeous online but be completely wrong for the kind of trip you actually want.

That’s why I don’t start with “What’s the cheapest 5-star?”

I start with “What matters most to you?”

Because the right resort isn’t necessarily the one with the best price or the fanciest photos.

It’s the one that fits the vacation you have in your head.

🇮🇪 Ireland is one of those places people don’t just visit. They get attached to it.

Maybe it’s the scenery. Maybe it’s the little towns, the music (or b**r or gin!) coming from a pub, or the fact that a quick conversation with a local can somehow turn into half an hour. 😂

But I think a big part of Ireland’s appeal is that it feels wonderfully easy to settle into. Like home.

You can spend the morning somewhere spectacular, stop in a village you’ve never heard of for lunch, and end the day with a pint and some live music without feeling like you’ve spent the whole day racing from attraction to attraction.

That’s one of the reasons I’m so excited to be heading back next May, this time hosting our own Stewart Travel Group trip with Larry.

And yes, there’s golf for those who want it. ⛳😉

Ireland just has a way of making you want to stay a little longer.

🎒 And just like that… back to school this week!

Lunches are packed, alarms are set, routines are back… and somewhere, a parent is already wondering how it’s only Tuesday. 😂

For those of us who aren’t tied to the school calendar anymore, this is also when one of my favourite travel seasons begins.

September and October can be wonderful months to travel. The summer crowds start thinning out, the weather is often still lovely, and destinations begin to feel a little less frantic.

👉It's also THE BEST TIME to book winter travel as there are loads of Labour Day sales on this week. Prices won't get better than this!

To all the students, parents, teachers and school staff heading back this week, I wish you all an amaazing year. ❤️

🇨🇦 Happy Labour Day!

I hope today involves considerably less labour than usual (and less rain than the past few days!!!!). 😂

Whether you’re squeezing in one last summer outing (now that the sun is peaking out), tackling absolutely nothing on your to-do list, or just enjoying an extra cup of coffee somewhere comfortable, I hope you get a little time to yourself today.
