Our Story
Starting in 2016 Madi G's Custom Tours was designed to bring together a love of Cape Breton and travel through the need for employment. Cape Breton Island is a beautiful, magical place that many recognize to be a destination, yet others know it as an economic hurdle. That economy has been sustained since the early 1700's by entrepreneurship. An island of hard working and proud people, Barbara (a.k.a. Madi G) grew up here in a family of entrepreneurs, business ownership was in her blood you may say.
Barbara, CEO and owner of Madi G's Custom Tours got her start in tourism in 1990 with the first retail and small tour operator located at the Port of Sydney, Mrs. G’s Cape Breton Emporium. From bike rentals to day tours offering guests unique experiences such as picking berries and making jam in a true Cape Bretoner’s kitchen, Mrs G’s provided the platform for Madi G’s to develop.
A degree in Tourism Management and her combined experiences, Barbara is ready to release Madi G's Custom Tours to the world. Don't just visit, Experience your tour Off-the-BRETON-path!.
