We are just a handful of days away now from celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Nipigon Ice Fest, and we are so excited to see everyone this weekend!!

The Nipigon Ice Fest is not only an event that gets people out climbing, it also an annual reunion where climbers and outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and abilities come together each year to all spend time with each other again in celebration of climbing. Young or old, beginners or veterans, everyone who participates is able to enjoy a super fun day of climbing, learn new skills, and make new friends.

Whether people are participants in the climbing clinics, or just coming for the evening events, there is something for everyone to have a good time 🤗

Gamechanger for approaches! ❄️

Finally got a pair of snowshoes that have metal teeth on the edges, and oh my lordy is it ever nice to have that extra grip going up and down hills compared to the tube style framed ones... I should have got these years ago hahaha 🤣

This place is called The Ice Palace for good reason... so many wild ice formations, and jam packed with a whole bunch of super cool climbs all close together.

Yesterday climbed a fun route called 'Remember the Day'. An absolute classic that never gets old no matter how many times I've climbed it. I love Orient Bay 😊🤘

Wilderness Advanced First Aid course available, December 13th - 16th!

We've partnered up with Arktos Outdoors, a Licensed Training Company of the Wilderness Medical Associates, to offer an Advanced Wilderness First Aid course in Thunder Bay. The course will be instructed by Jared Miller, a local Thunder Bay climber and professional instructor of Wilderness Medicine.

This 40-hour Wilderness Advanced First Aid course follows the curriculum of the Wilderness Medical Associates' WAFA course, and retains the same global recognition, scope of practice and 3 year validity. The medicine and training will be relevant to anyone recreating or working in the outdoors. Unique to this specific offering however, is that the scenarios and simulations will be focused on rock, ice and alpine climbing, to directly address the needs of the local climbing community. You don’t have to be a climber though to participate. The Wilderness Advanced First Aid is the perfect entry-level course for outdoor adventurers and outdoor professionals who may need to provide patient care when help is delayed for hours to days. The course focuses on basic lifesaving skills, patient assessment, field care for common injuries and illnesses, environmental illnesses, and proper reporting for rescue assistance.
