Wilderness Advanced First Aid course available, December 13th - 16th!
We've partnered up with Arktos Outdoors, a Licensed Training Company of the Wilderness Medical Associates, to offer an Advanced Wilderness First Aid course in Thunder Bay. The course will be instructed by Jared Miller, a local Thunder Bay climber and professional instructor of Wilderness Medicine.
This 40-hour Wilderness Advanced First Aid course follows the curriculum of the Wilderness Medical Associates' WAFA course, and retains the same global recognition, scope of practice and 3 year validity. The medicine and training will be relevant to anyone recreating or working in the outdoors. Unique to this specific offering however, is that the scenarios and simulations will be focused on rock, ice and alpine climbing, to directly address the needs of the local climbing community. You donβt have to be a climber though to participate. The Wilderness Advanced First Aid is the perfect entry-level course for outdoor adventurers and outdoor professionals who may need to provide patient care when help is delayed for hours to days. The course focuses on basic lifesaving skills, patient assessment, field care for common injuries and illnesses, environmental illnesses, and proper reporting for rescue assistance.
