Nishnawbe-Aski Legal Services extends our deepest thoughts to the individuals, families, and First Nations impacted by the devastating wildfires across Northern Ontario.
We recognize that many people have been forced to leave their homes, communities, businesses and loved ones with little notice. To everyone who has been evacuated: you are not alone. Your strength, resilience, and the care communities continue to show one another reflect the spirit of the North.
We also want to acknowledge and thank the firefighters, emergency responders, Elders, leadership, volunteers, host communities, and everyone working tirelessly to protect lives and support those who have been displaced.
As these fires continue to impact our region, we encourage everyone to stay informed through official sources, follow evacuation orders when issued, and extend kindness and compassion to those who have had to leave everything behind.
