Good Tuesday morning everyone, definitely beautiful fall is in the air!

We thought about talking of uncertain times, we know a lot of people are putting off travel plans, waiting to see what happens next.

We understand it. Sometimes it feels easier to wait.

But for us, this trip became less about where we were going and more about why we were going.

Seeing family. Being together. And celebrate my only sister, my only nephew and his girlfriend on their milestone birthdays this year!

Because sometimes the most important part of travel isn’t the destination — it’s the people waiting for you at the other end.

So we’re going and we will update you with Orange Bicycle Report!

We feel so lucky to call this place home.

We grabbed a Chicken Chalupa and a Walking Taco from Tacomory, took it down to the Little Tub Harbour, and went for a little stroll afterwards.

Not a bad way to spend a peaceful Sunday afternoon living in Tobermory. Hope you all had a great Sunday too.

🍦🔬 APPLICATION SUBMITTED.

Apparently, Dr. Bombay and the universe heard me when I said I’d happily move to Italy for a job as a gelato or cannoli taster…

So when I saw that Snoop was hiring ice cream tasters, I thought: well, this feels like a job I was born for.

I never said no to ice cream in 58 years! In fact ice cream may or may not run through my veins.

Nick and I have officially established the Orange Bicycle Ice Cream Research Lab in Tobermory, Ontario—and yes, we take our research VERY seriously. We are traveling to 5 European countries next month to continue our research!

So here’s my audition. 🍦🎬

Good Tuesday morning everyone, we hope you all had a great Labour Day Weekend! Now It’s back-to-school time!
Except… we’re not going back!

We’re just sitting here happily watching our friends’ kids head back to school, university and college while we enjoy our time!

Maybe that explains why, after high school, I took two years to explore everything from baking and pottery to photography, badminton and ping pong before finally finding my way to film school.

Some people know exactly what they want.

Some of us need a little… research.

Happy back-to-school season to all the parents, students and teachers!

We’ll be over here doing absolutely no homework.

Stormy Wednesday turned into a pretty great evening, catching up with some good friends!

We escaped the crazy weather and headed to Mono Centre Brewing , where our Toronto neighbor, Bruce Bruce Blackburn was playing live music.

And guess what? Bruce has his own IPA at the brewery—appropriately called “A Little Bruce”!

We also met Zach, the owner, who was incredibly welcoming. They have a huge selection of beers and a small food menu—Bavarian pretzels and paninis—but honestly, they were really good!

Happy Labour Day weekend, everyone! Enjoy the long weekend, good music, good food, and maybe a little Bruce !🍻🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

From B&B hosts to Asian food entrepreneurs!

Peter and his family, the wonderful folks behind Innisfree B&B, have added something delicious to Tobermory: Innkeeper’s Asian Food!

We went to check it out—and let’s just say… there may have been some serious taste-testing happening.

Authentic Chinese flavours, dumplings, chow mein, sesame balls, tempura shrimp and more—all right here in Tobermory!

From welcoming guests to serving up flavours from home, they’re bringing something pretty special to our community.

So if you’re in Tobermory and craving authentic Chinese food, keep an eye out for their food truck!

After a very dry summer, our pond completely dried up! Last week I removed the remaining cattail roots, hoping our water lilies survived and saw a couple of the frogs in the middle of our driveway!

After some rain over the last couple of days, some water went back to the pond. Although the fountain is still waiting for its comeback! We didn't get the wild storm and the damage that was done in the city!

Now we’re just hoping for more gentle rain, happy water lilies, and the return of our froggy residents.

Good Tuesday morning everyone! As geographical names are having a moment, we thought to have a chat about that!

The Gulf of Mexico has been called the “Gulf of America” by the U.S. government, Lake Ontario is being referred to as “Lake America” in the U.S., and for years there have been attempts to replace the Persian Gulf with the “Arabian Gulf.”

For Iranians, that last one is especially personal. The Persian Gulf is a name with centuries of historical and geographical usage, and attempts to erase or replace it can feel like an attempt to rewrite history. Even seeing different names appear on maps and digital platforms has caused plenty of outrage among Iranians around the world and now it's Canada's turn!

These names are hydronyms—names for bodies of water—and they carry history, geography and cultural memory.

I think we're witnessing another "Art of Distraction" I've seen many of those in the Islamic Republic! You can issue an executive order, you create an outrage, your base may feel good and powerful but the name change doesn't help any real issues! And good luck convincing the fish.

And maybe, while we're all busy arguing about what to call a lake, a gulf or an ocean… we should also ask:

What are we NOT talking about?

P.S. The fish still haven't been informed of the name change, they probably don't care about any executive order and carry on with their lives!

Last week, thanks to our dear neighbour, we had the chance to fly over our beautiful village and once again be completely amazed by this incredible place we call home!

Seeing the gorgeous turquoise waters of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay from above was absolutely breathtaking.

We truly hope there will be an opportunity to offer aerial tours again next summer—we would definitely recommend this unforgettable experience to our guests! Seeing Tobermory and the Bruce Peninsula from the sky is something truly special.
