📖 Captain’s Log: Aaron’s Angle

A rocky shoreline, a whole lot of whiskers, and one very busy Steller sea lion haul-out. 🦭🌊

From sleepy stretches in the sun to curious calls and plenty of personality, Aaron captured a glimpse of life on the rocks along the ḥaḥuułii.

Join Čakʷaasiqḥẃiłim (Jeneva Touchie) from Yuułuʔiłʔath for a language lesson including a walk to the čiińuł (totem pole) and the ḥakum housepost. We hope to see you there!

The Ḥaahuupa Series invites local community members and visitors from around the world to meet local First Nation peoples who are enthusiastic to share their Nuu-chah-nulth culture through various workshops and experiences.

ℹ️ Please note that this event replaces the regularly scheduled 2pm interpretive program.

It’s wonderful to see Indigenous-owned and operated tourism experiences continuing to grow and create opportunities on the west coast. We’re so excited to celebrate this milestone with you and wish the Tla-o-qui-aht Development Corporation and Tsawaak RV Resort & Campground every success in this next chapter.

The Tla-o-qui-aht Development Corporation and Tsawaak RV Resort & Campground warmly invite community members to join us on Wednesday, August 12 at 10:00 a.m. as we celebrate the opening of Tofino Wildpods and the next chapter of this business as a Tla-o-qui-aht-owned and operated tourism experience.

The ceremony will take place at Monks Point (174 West Street, Tofino) and will include a traditional welcome, and the opportunity to gather together as a community. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.

To support Elders who would like to attend, a shuttle will be available from the Co-op Grocery Store waiting area, with transportation provided to and from the Wildpods property.

Please note that onsite parking will be unavailable during the ceremony. We encourage everyone to walk, bike, or carpool where possible.

We look forward to gathering with you as we celebrate this exciting milestone together.
