Split, a city on Croatia's Dalmatian coast ✈, is known for its beaches and Diocletian's Palace, a central fortress built by the Roman Emperor in the 4th century. The palace once housed thousands of buildings and today still has more than 200. Within its white stone walls and under its courtyards there is a cathedral and a large number of shops, bars, cafes, hotels and houses.

GET TO KNOW THE INCREDIBLE NEUSCHWANSTEIN CASTLE IN GERMANY ✈🇩🇪
The wonderful Neuschwanstein Castle, or Schloss Neuschwanstein in its original German name, is a true fairytale castle. It inspired several locations for works of fiction, the most well-known and iconic is Cinderella's castle, symbol of Disney studios. Its interesting story mixes enchantment and tragedy.

STORY OF FAIRY TALES, MADNESS AND MYSTERY
Each year, an average of 1.3 million tourists visit Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, but not everyone knows its peculiar history.
King Ludwig II of Bavaria was the creator of the castle in the 19th century, inspired by the work of a great friend, the famous composer Richard Wagner. To design it, he called in Christian Jank, a theatrical set designer, rather than an architect. This choice already demonstrates what the King's intentions were, and also explains the fantastic appearance that the castle has.

However, what started out as a beautiful fairy tale had a tragic and mysterious ending. The King was declared insane by the State Commission in 1886, near the completion of the castle, and was imprisoned there. Soon after he was taken to Berg and in June of the same year he was found dead in Lake Starnberger, along with the psychiatrist who confirmed his insanity. To this day, it is not known exactly what happened.

The Monastery of the Caves, founded in 1015, and the Cathedral of Saint Sophia, founded in 1037, are both World Heritage Sites. The Museum of the Great Patriotic War, topped by the massive Statue of the Fatherland, offers incredible views of the city below.

A stroll through the city center will surprise you with the perfect symbiosis between new and old, modern buildings alongside Victorian buildings. To help you get around the main points, there is a free tram (train) that runs through the streets of the center and that you can use getting on and off as often as you like. Some of the old buildings not to be missed are in Federation Square, such as St. Paul's Cathedral and the beautiful Flinders Street Station.

On the west coast of Portugal, next to the estuary, is Aveiro. It is a city distinguished by its canals where colorful moliceiros circulate. It is known as the “Portuguese Venice”. Traditional boats, once used to harvest seaweed, are now a tourist attraction.

The symbiosis between the city and the Ria is described by Saramago as a “living body that connects the land to the sea like a huge heart”. The village was founded in the time of the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius. It was the web-footed birds that existed there that gave the land its name (Aviarium).

Start the tour by visiting the churches of Zurich Old Town, there are 4 important churches in Zurich Old Town, Fraumünster, Grossmünster, Predigerkirche and St. Peter. Of all the churches, Fraumünster is the only one that charges entrance (around CHF54), and that's because of Marc Chagall's famous surrealist stained glass windows. It's no wonder that this beautiful city is the most famous on the Romantic Route in Germany. Rothenburg ob der Tauber is even the most charming, the most attractive and the most full of attractions than all the others.
For starters, the city is all walled in and this makes it irresistible. Even because it is difficult to find completely walled cities these days. Due to the fact that many of the small towns had to give up their walls to expand, there are few places where you can still see intact walls like those seen in Rothenburg, Germany. Other reasons cities have lost their walls over time are invasions, wars, and decay.

In this way, Rothenburg continues to keep within these walls hundreds of years of history and an atmosphere of the Middle Ages. To this, added to the beauty of well-preserved buildings, flowers in the windows and lots of entertainment. Without a doubt, the city you MUST visit on the Romantic Route!
It is even said that Walt Disney was based on Rothenburg's plan to make the village where Pinocchio lived in the famous cartoon that he brought to life… could he have reasons to be more inspiring?

If you visit France ✈🇨🇵 go to the Castle of Langeais
It is a castle in the department of Indre-et-Loire, France. It was built on a rocky headland created by the small valley of the River Roumer, at the opening of the Loire Valley. Despite looking dark and menacing, the rooms inside are richly decorated.
Langeais Castle has been classified as a National Monument since March 1922.

The Castle of Langeais was originally built as a fortress in the 10th century by Foulques Nerra of Anjou. That Count of Anjou undertook the construction of numerous defense works during his reign, including the primitive Castle of Langeais.
