Or do you want to be but constantly have interruptions from your kids or husband that you don't bother trying to even open a book?

I'm working on something new for those of us who need that break to getaway, get lost in a new world and listen to the waves with a cocktail in hand.

I'm in the beginning stages of planning my first Bookish Beach Escape for couples and I would love for you to join us!

What is a Bookish Beach Escape?

It's a couples only getaway (or bring a friend, but you will have to share a bed 🙃) in a tropical destination for 3-4 nights over a weekend (because I know we all have families to get back to and don't want to use up too much time of your vacation time without the kids) Uninterrupted time of reading on the beach, surrounded by other book lovers who will be doing the same. You can chat about books with other women who get it while your husband relaxes with you or makes some friends with the other husbands who loose their wives the minute they open the book too🤣

I'm in the beginning stages but hoping to make this an annual thing. I'm aiming to launch the first one next fall so you have plenty of time to work out the logistics of child care and to pay it off monthly over the year if you choose.

What book did you read on your last vacation?

During our adults only trip to Jamaica I dived into the ACOTAR series and fell in love the Romantasy 💕

Reading has to be my favourite thing to do on vacation. There is nothing like laying by the beach or pool listening to the waves with a drink in hand getting lost in a new world. ✨

Trouble is when you have kids that can be hard to accomplish…the constant interruptions make it hard to dive into that new book on your TBR list.

What if I told you that I had a solution for you? One that would allow you uninterrupted time to read at the beach with a cocktail in hand surrounded by other women who love the same books as you?

Thought it was about time I reintroduced myself!

Hey! I’m Melissa your friendly Travel Agent next door 👋

I’m a Canadian mama to 2 very busy boys and married to my best friend & the most amazing and supportive husband❤️

My favourite thing to do is travel (and plan travel!). BUT when I’m not planning vacations for myself (or my clients) right now you will probably catch me browsing Pinterest for my next home DIY or decorating inspo, or outside soaking up the warm Canadian summer with a book & cocktail 🍹

I know what it’s like being a mom, it’s busy, stressful and overwhelming but also filled with so much joy and happiness. I’m a firm believer that moms (and dads!) need a break on vacation & it’s not always possible to take a trip without kids. My goal is to show you how cruising can be the perfect mix of family time & adult only time allowing you to actually relax on your vacation! Because you DESERVE it! 🫶

Think you need to put off cruising until your kids are older? Think again!

Cruising is perfect for kids of any age especially those little ones! But not every ship or itinerary is the best for every age. Here are some of my top tips when choosing a cruise for little ones…

✨Kiddos in diapers? Ensure you do the research and pick a ship that has a splash area or pool for our littlest cruisers! Ships will often not allow swim diapers in the main pools so it can be a huge disappointment arriving and not being able to use the pool.

✨Consider your stateroom carefully. While it may be tempting to choose an interior for the lower price you may want to consider a balcony, suite or even connecting rooms. If you stick to normal bedtime and nap time routines you don’t want to be stuck in a dark room with no place to go.

✨Consider your itinerary. Pick an itinerary that has easily accessible ports with beaches and kid friendly activities. Many shore excursions will have a minimum age requirement so you will most likely be doing a bit of the ports on your own.
