HAPPY NEW YEAR, TRAVELLERS!

wishes you much delight and discovery in 2025. And we hope that the new year will bring you to our great city. Perhaps for the first time!… Or on a return visit for more!

To bring in the new we’re going to pay tribute to the old. That is to say: revisit one of the highlights of our 2024 tour year!

That’s when our expert greeter, “Kadi” welcomed Victoria and Svetlan who came to Toronto all the way from —you guessed it, if you’ve been following us lately— the great state of GERMANY. EU member state, I mean. It’s our top source of visitors each year.

“It was their first time visiting Toronto,” explains Kadi of our distinguished guests, “and they were only here for two days. We went to , , and then along to and , , and of course, . There they sampled some butter tarts which they enjoyed very much.”

Wow, in addition to serving Canada’s signature pastry, Kadi managed to get all the Saints covered. It’s a MIRACLE! Please continue.

“From there we went to see the art on , the dog fountain at [pictured above] and the flatiron building. Then the , the and . Lastly, I took them through the to and the .”

See what a rich, varied experience you get from such an awesome and knowledgeable greeter as our Kadi? And to think it’s all FREE! Yes, that’s right. We don’t accept any payment or gifts cos’ we so enjoy the simple pleasure of showcasing our great city to interested guests.

That said, you are welcome to make a donation (at any time) to our parent organization, the International Greeter Association. See bio for details!

Paula had just 12 hours to spare! Due to her Toronto layover en route between Buenos Aires and Lisbon. Nonetheless, MJ offered Paula some classic Canadian courtesy as an interlude from her South American journey. And Paula was happy to accept the welcome!

It began early: “Paula arrived in the city at 6:30am and walked around the downtown and financial district and then made her way to ,” MJ tells us, “So I met her later at the and we walked along the , visiting the , and the shores just behind [pictured above]. She was very impressed with all the buildings and, again, all the flowers.”

As we are always happy to welcome to our city: they will see many recognizable references from street names and building dedications to the image of her late Majesty the Queen smiling from printed Canadian dollars. (Is she smiling? Or is that just me? Hmmm).

Late last summer our very own “David” brought Roy and Irene of Christ Church England around various locales. “We had A lovely time,” recalls David, “touring the downtown and of course . At their request, I took them up to for the outdoor art mural festival, where we concluded our tour. Here we are.”

know a lot about the city we call home. Yet we’re just as delighted to learn new discoveries! Especially when these come from the guests we greet.

This happened recently when Toronto Greeter “MJ” welcomed three lovely ladies visiting from Barcelona. “I took them to City Hall,” MJ relates, “where we experienced the ‘Taste of India’ and had some delicious snacks. And then we moved on to go see The Burrito!”

Burrito? Wasn’t the Indian food filling enough?

Actually this proved to be an outdoor sculpture (not a Mexican dish). And it holds very special meaning to Spanish visitors!

Located in (St. Joseph and Bay Streets) this 4-metre tall bronze curiosity was made by Canadian sculptor Myfanwy MacLeod in 2019. It’s a tribute to “Primrose,” an English donkey born in 2012 w/ deformed front legs. Long pink casts were fashioned to help straighten the donkey’s limbs to recovery. The story became an inspiration to millions, most especially to Spaniards who nicknamed the animal, “Burrito” (“little donkey” en Español).

¡Que marvellosa! Trés bien! Another illuminating greet realized. Come see what you can discover when you visit Toronto!

At we’re reminded of how special our city can be every time someone new travels from great distance just to see what all the rumpus is about.

Meet Natasha! She came all the way from to for the first time. Okay, so she stopped by first — the side that is, the best side, which offers an amazing vantage point of the Falls— but she came straight to us after!

Natasha was really taken by the unique vibe of each Toronto neighbourhood our greeter “PK” took her through. And the great diversity of cultures that she experienced in the food, the shops, the sights and the people. She even enjoyed her first-ever butter tart, a staple of Classic Canadian cuisine. Behold!

A little light rain didn’t throw things off either. Not when you’re having this much fun in the city!
