Three Queens on the Mersey
I love Cunard Queens!!
On 26 May 2015, Cunard marked its 175th anniversary in spectacular style when Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth gathered on the River Mersey in Liverpool. It was the first time all three Queens met in the city, drawing vast crowds to the waterfront. Queen Mary 2 sailed out to meet her sisters and then returned in line past the Pier Head, where the famous Three Graces formed the backdrop.

At the heart of the event, all three ships performed a synchronised 180-degree turn, briefly stretching across the river with their bows facing the city. Queen Mary 2 then gave a whistle salute sounding “175.” The Red Arrows flew overhead as the liners formed an arrowhead with Queen Mary 2 leading. It was a dramatic tribute linking Cunard’s modern fleet with the line’s historic Liverpool roots.
