Day 7 of our Western Newfoundland Adventure - Hiking in the Bay of Islands

Weather and wind adjusted our plans today and we forged ahead to explore the Copper Mine Brook Falls and Bottle Cove in the morning - while we sampled some delicious local fare for lunch. In the afternoon some of our group opted for another big hike to the Quarry Lookout - and finished our day with an incredible locally sourced dinner at an incredible family run bee farm and bistro.

Day 6 - Western Newfoundland - Travelling through Deer Lake to the Bay of Islands

Today after a much deserved rest - we had a slow morning to recover from our Gros Morne Hike and say goodbye to Rocky Harbour. We made our way to Corner Brook and the Bay of Islands stopping in Deer Lake for lunch. Our day finished with an amazing walking tour of Corner Brook, and some free time to explore the town. Tomorrow we're back in our hiking boots and ready to explore.

Day 5 in Western Newfoundland - Hiking Gros Morne Mountain

Not gonna lie, hiking got real today. What a challenge to summit Gros Morne Mountain. 800 metres of elevation, and 18km. The views are breathtaking - but don't be fooled, the summit is difficult, but the real challenge is descending afterwards. A quick dinner and off to bed today, we've got some sleepy hikers (and guides).

Day 4 - Western Newfoundland - Hiking the Lookout Trail and Tablelands.

Another beautiful sunny day in Gros Morne National Park with stunning views as we hiked up the Lookout Trail with beautiful view of Woody Point and Bonne Bay. Afterwards we hiked into the Tablelands - an area of the park that looks out of this world. Afterwards we water taxi'd over to Norris Point where some of enjoyed a cold b**r on the patio, while others opted for Lobster Rolls. All in all, a wonderful day.

Day 3 of Western Newfoundland - Hiking the Green Gardens Trail

After a rainy one yesterday, we were rewarded with an incredible sunny day as we hiked the Green Gardens trail - an out and back hike approximately 10km in total. We had lunch on the beach and even had some hikers take a dip in the ocean. After our beachside picnic we made our way back to the trail head and had a short stop at Woody Point for some well deserved ice cream.

Day 2 - Western Newfoundland Adventure

Our Adventures in Western Newfoundland and Gros Morne National Park kicked off in true Newfoundland fashion, with a all kinds of weather being thrown at us. That didn't phase this hearty group of hikers as we powered on and enjoyed a beautiful cruise of the Western Brook Pond Fjord. The rain showcased incredible waterfalls all around us and eventually turned into a beautiful afternoon.

Our Western Newfoundland has officially kicked off and we entered Gros Morne National Park today. Kicking off the trip by meeting our guides and enjoying a tasty seafood dinner. Can't wait to lace up our hiking boots tomorrow and explore the Western Brook Pond.

LUNCH ON A HIKE? NO PROBLEM!

One challenge on any hiking trip is to find a lunch that is convenient, tasty and easy to transport in your backpack. In addition to sandwiches, there’s one item that we are particularly fond of, not just because they are very convenient, but they also are tasty and pack a good amount of protein. They are the tuna bowls we find in most European grocery stores.

In addition to being tasty, they are also filling and no refrigeration is necessary! Nice bonus if your hotel room does not have a mini-fridge. So next time you are looking for something to pick up for lunch, and want a change from the usual sandwich, try one of these!
