The Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) is one of the top long-distance hikes in Europe, and in fact the world – looping around the Mont Blanc massif and crossing through 3 countries (France, Italyand Switzerland) and 7 valleys, measuring 168km in distance and 10,600m of total ascents and descents. It delivers superlative, pristine mountain scenery day after day!

True, it’s not for the faint of heart, but if you are willing to undertake this challenge with us, the rewards are nothing short of spectacular! We saved one of the absolute best for last!

Setting off right from our hotel, we hiked our way up to the charming village of Lakones, through more olive groves, all the way to the abandoned fortress of Angelokastro. This 13th-century Byzantine stronghold is not only historical - it served up absolutely jaw-dropping, commanding views across the Adriatic.

We thought we had seen the most beautiful panoramic views already but there was more to come. We then trekked over to the tiny village of Krini and down through orchards and more olives before rounding the corner where the most spectacular view of Agios Georgios opened up before us. Easily one of the most scenic views on the island!

After yesterday’s epic hike, we needed a little R&R today.

Some of us visited the Corfu Donkey Rescue this morning to shower these handsome devils with a little TLC. Boy are donkeys ever affectionate!

A swim was also in order for most of us - either in the sea or the pool or both. Plus boat rides, monastery visits and some fine food … all the things we needed to help us recharge.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED - CORFU’s HIGHEST PEAK

Without a doubt, this was one of the most spectacular, jaw-droppingly rewarding trek on the entire island!

✅ Jaw-dropping because of the views
✅ Rewarding because we worked really hard to get there

From our starting point on the northeast coast, we immediately started our climb through a sun-dappled olive grove and then pushing onward to the lower slopes of Mount Pantokrator.

Standing tall as the island’s highest peak at a towering 906m, Pantokrator didn't disappoint. We conquered the summit, having started at almost sea level, and as we neared ever more closely to the top, we could take in the sweeping, panoramic views of Corfu's northern tip and the dramatic coastline of neighboring Albania.

After a well-deserved rest, we descended through a lush, verdant valley until we reached the enchanting village of Ano Perithia. As Corfu’s oldest known settlement, this place was a true time capsule - every single one of its 130 buildings and 8 churches was hand-built back in the 14th century. A handful of these historic gems had been beautifully restored, providing the ultimate, atmospheric backdrop for us to kick back and toast to an unforgettable hike.

We kicked off today’s adventure on foot, marching right out of our hotel lobby, passed the swimming pool and straight into the climb up to the charming village of Lakones.

From Lakones, we pushed upward to the very peak of Mt. Arakli, conquering its 505-meter summit to lock in some epic, 360-degree panoramas of the entire region.

Every direction we looked rewarded us with absolutely jaw-dropping views of Paleokastritsa, the glistening Ionian Sea down below and pretty much all of the island of Corfu!

On the trek back down, we treated ourselves to a much-deserved ice cream break (otherwise we would’ve had a mutiny on our hands) before looping back into the Lakones town square, and eventually ending up at a beach bar in town to celebrate our perfect day.
