Flight of the Snowbird - Day 4

Heath, OH to northern Kentucky

I’m starting to get in a morning travel ritual, and that makes me smile.

* Awake before dawn
* Listen to CBC Radio via the CBC app on my iPhone
* Adjust tire pressure (felt a little low yesterday afternoon)
* Reattach luggage
* Eat a Continental Breakfast
* Wipe down the dew
* (Skip filling up — ahhh.. one of the joys of this new GSA — HUGE tank!!!)
* Sidestand up

I’m back on the road again!

Flight of the Snowbird - Day 3

Sandusky,OH to Heath, OH

Stayed in an Econlodge for the night. Nothing special about the room, but the WiFi connection to the Internet was very fast, perhaps due to how few people were at the motel that night.

Right in front of the motel was my dining spot for the evening - Casa Real Mexican Restaurant. Some of the biggest (and tastiest) unblended margaritas I have had in quite a while. In fact, not since my days as a bartender at Chi-Chi’s and was mixing them myself, have I had such large drinks. And for dirt cheap too — $5.00 for a 20-ounce drink! I couldn’t even finish one drink.

Flight of the Snowbird research trip complete - 4,656 miles over 20 days -- lots of wonderful sights and activities. Need to whittle down the tour to 14 days, max. Hmmmm.... what to cut?

Day 2 - Windsor, ON - Point Pelee Island, ON - Sandusky, ON

Took a large car ferry from Kingsville, ON to the island. It takes about and hour to ride around the entire island. About 3/4 of the roads are gravel.

Then took the ferry across the border to Sandusky, Ohio. It's a much smaller boat for the international crossing (max. 12 vehicles vs ~ 30).
You sail right past the Cedar Point Amusement Park as you get to the States. Fabulous sight seeing the coasters and ferris wheel lit up at night seemingly right on the waters edge.

Just catching up on posting some pics from the current trip.

Day 1 - Toronto, ON to Windsor,ON along the north shore of Lake Erie, which is being marketed as Ontario's South Coast. Beautiful low-traffic, well maintained roads along a nice shoreline.

Serious bug fest riding at dusk. I have no idea how people do this without full-face helmets.
