Pico do Arieiro is the 3rd highest peak on Madeira and one of the most beautiful hikes in the world 🌍

Its summit is 1,810 meters and the trail to Pedra Rija is about 1.2km ⛰️

The mountain is only a 40min drive from the main city of Funchal, and literally reaches above the clouds ☁️

The most popular time to visit is during sunrise or sunset, but even throughout the day you'll get picturesque views with a sea of clouds beneath you ☀️

Keep in mind you need permits before your hike for certain timeslots, reserve it online 🎫

Cascais is a beautiful historic coastal town also known as the Portuguese Riviera ⛱️

It is one of the wealthiest regions in Portugal and only 30mins train from Lisbon 🇵🇹

The beautiful golden sands and medieval castles give this resort town lots of unique style ✨

Cabo da Roca is the westernmost point of Europe 🌍

Beyond these rocky shores is the expansive Atlantic Ocean directly across from North America 🌊

There's also a historic lighthouse that began operating in 1772, making it the 3rd oldest lighthouse in Portugal 🚨

The sheer granite and limestone cliffs drop 165 meters straight down into the ocean ⛰️

The stone monolith is ins ribed with the quote "Here, where the land ends and the sea begins..." 🖋️

It is a cool pitstop on the way to Sintra 🇵🇹
