Kyoto days 🇯🇵✨

We left Tokyo and took the bullet train to Kyoto, which was such a smooth and easy ride. We stayed close to Kyoto Station and honestly, it made everything so convenient for getting around with the kids.

That evening we did a ramen cooking class with Musoshin Ramen Academy 🍜 and it ended up being one of our favorite experiences. We made our own ramen from scratch and learned they actually have three locations back in Toronto, one with a Michelin star. The kids loved how hands-on it was, and painting our own spoons at the end was such a fun touch 🎨

After dinner, we wandered through Gion for a bit. The streets were so peaceful at night with lanterns glowing everywhere. It felt really special just walking around and taking it all in without the daytime crowds.

The next morning we explored Kyoto by bike 🚲. We rode out to Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine and seeing all those red torii gates in person was incredible. Try to get there before 9am if you can, it gets busy quickly.

Later in the day we did a traditional tea ceremony 🍵 this one is specifically for children. It was such a beautiful experience and very family-friendly. Getting to choose our kimonos was a highlight for the girls, they absolutely loved it.

After that, we biked over to the bamboo grove and spent some time walking and shopping along Ninenzaka Street. Kyoto really has this mix of culture and calm that’s hard to explain until you experience it.

We wrapped up the day with dinner near Kyoto Station, which was only a few minutes from our hotel.

Next stop Hokkaido ❄️ we’re heading to Club Med Tomamu and can’t wait for some Japow 🎿

13 hours in the air ✈️ and a 13 hour time change later… we made it to Tokyo 🇯🇵

We’re staying in Asakusa, Tokyo and spent our first days wandering through Senso-ji Temple, trying some of the famous snacks, visiting the fish market, and doing a little shopping in Harajuku.

We tried a sumo experience which was such a cool glimpse into Japanese culture, and visited TeamLab Borderless which honestly felt like stepping into another world ✨

One of our favorite parts so far has been staying in a traditional Japanese hotel and ending the day in the onsen 🛁

Tokyo somehow manages to be so vibrant but also calm and organized at the same time. It’s incredibly family friendly, everything feels so thoughtful.

Some of our favourite moments:
🏯 Staying in the heart of Asakusa with the Senso-ji Temple just around the corner
🌸 Seeing the early cherry blossoms in Ueno Park
🚶‍♂️ Experiencing the famous Shibuya Crossing
🎨 Getting lost inside TeamLab Borderless
🍡 Trying some of the famous snacks + visiting the fish market
🛍️ Shopping in Harajuku

We already love this city so much and honestly wish we had more time here.

Next stop Kyoto by bullet train 🚄🇯🇵

My clients always ask me, “But what is there to do on a day at sea?”

No ports. No rushing. No alarms.

Just time to relax, explore the ship, enjoy the food, book the spa, lounge by the pool, grab a character coffee, and actually soak it all in. 🌊☕🍹

Sea days are when the ship becomes the destination and that’s where the magic really happens. 💙
