There's a version of summer that happens about two hours north of the city.

The water is cold and clear. The dock is warm from the sun. The kids have been outside since breakfast, and nobody has looked at a screen in four hours.

You're sitting there… actually sitting, not half-present… watching all of it happen.

That's what an Ontario summer weekend can feel like when you actually stop and build one around your family.

Muskoka. Tobermory. The Kawarthas. Prince Edward County. Georgian Bay. The options are right here — closer than most families realize, and more restorative than anything that requires a six-hour flight.

Sometimes the best family trip isn't the one you've been dreaming about for years.

Picking a Hawaiian island should feel simple.

There are four main ones. You do a little research. You pick.

But here's what most families discover somewhere in the planning process: the more you research, the harder the decision gets.
Every island sounds incredible. Every review is glowing. And you're no closer to knowing which one is actually right for your family.

That's because the research tells you what each island has. It doesn't tell you which island fits the way your family travels.

Oahu gives you the most variety and the easiest logistics.
Maui offers the most beauty, with enough adventure woven in.
Kauai gives you stillness and scenery that feels completely unspoiled.
The Big Island gives you the kind of wonder that's unlike anywhere else on earth.

None of those are wrong. But one of them is more right for your family than the others. And figuring out which one, before you plan anything else, makes every decision after it easier.

Most families who come to me about Disney are thinking about Walt Disney World.

Which makes complete sense. It's iconic. It's layered. It delivers on the promise in a way that's hard to describe until you've experienced it with your family.

But every so often, I get to introduce a family to Adventure by Disney and watch it completely change what they thought a Disney experience could look like.

Costa Rica with expert guides and private wildlife encounters. Japan offers cultural immersion that goes far deeper than a tourist itinerary. Peru, with kids who come home knowing things about Machu Picchu they'll never forget.

It's Disney's storytelling sensibility applied to the real world. And for the right family, it's extraordinary.

The honest truth is that these are two very different experiences serving two very different versions of what a family might be looking for. One isn't better than the other. But one will be more right for your family than the other.
