Welcome to our cottage! Here is some information for you:

The cottage sleeps up to 12, with four bedrooms. There are two king size beds, one queen size bed, and 2 single bunkbeds. Hardwood floors in bedrooms.

Located near Mactier ON - (Foodland, Home Hardware/lumber store, LCBO, library,) Foot's Bay (5 min drive) has a public boat launch into Lake Joseph (Lake Joseph Road and #169). Myers Lake is a small, pristine, spring fed lake with gorgeous granite, pine trees and tranquility.

Hike around the lake for a wonderful workout and reconnect with nature. Swim in/across the bay in the clean, refreshing spring water. The cottage has approximately 100 ft of sandy beach in a private bay with excellent swimming and fishing. Enjoy the southwest view & spectacular sunsets while relaxing on the raised deck with a good book/drink. Please, no smoking in the cottage.

Bring your golf clubs and play golf at the many courses just minutes away. Tennis courts nearby as well. Famous Bala & Port Carling are 15 minutes away on Highway #169 where you can enjoy shopping & restaurants. There's an outdoor fire pit, right by the water for wonderful campfires.

The well-appointed kitchen makes preparing lovely meals a pleasure. There is a cedar sauna in the basement, ping pong table, air hockey and foosball table. There are plenty of movies, and books.

Big picture windows allow you to enjoy the exquisite view. The raised deck with new mosquito curtain makes it a favorite spot in the evenings, even in the spring. Play and run free on the big grass field.

here is a letter from some happy renters last season:

Hi Lisa,

Thanks so much for your send-off email. We, indeed, have had a most wonderful week here at lovely Protolarocca! As most of the family have long drives home tomorrow, they'll be heading out early but it's nice to not feel rushed to be out by 11 - thanks so much for that. With a shorter drive, Michael and I just might have a last swim after clean up and load up. 😊
So everyone's gone to bed and as I always tend to do, I'm staying up a bit later on this last night for some reflection and savouring. Just thought I'd share a few highlights of our time here in Muskoka...
The weather was magnificently cooperative overall! One hard rainshower with some fun thunder and then glorious the rest of the time. A couple days of hot and humidity, a couple days of 23 comfortable and the rest a glorious 25-30. The swimming is absolutely beautiful here on Myers Lake - you did not exaggerate! Perfect temperature with those cooling, fresh spring jets! We took advantage of both kayaks to explore the lake and thoroughly enjoyed your paddle board! For me and my sister Emma, THAT was a definite highlight!! What an amazing feeling, gliding across the water standing up! We took turns on it but then decided to try it together! Oh my god, I don't know if I've ever laughed so hard!! We paddled around and then took your advice and started doing yoga poses together! Lol! The downward dog was a success - even with a raised leg! Standing tree and warrior were tricky but we got 'em; I would not, however, recommend a double bow. Took us down each time. Lol!
We did not end up going hiking around the lake, unfortunately. We're not so partial to rattle snakes so thought we'd best not bother them. But it really didn't matter; we just loved hanging here at the cottage and exploring the lake. We made it into town to Chez Henni for a nice lunch, walked around Port Carling awhile and enjoyed poking around the MacTier shop with all the wonderful local crafts. The beds at the cottage were all very comfortable and the linens all smelled SO good - fresh off the clothes line! The tv was barely turned on and the wifi worked just fine when needed.
So all in all, we had a truly wonderful vacation and we all thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for welcoming us into your beautiful Muskoka refuge. The sunsets were exquisite and the stars sparkling bright and we made many memories during this too short week. We never know what our years will entail but I certainly hope we can return to Protolarocca again. I'll attach a few pics here for your amusement and then I'm off to bed for one last, wonderful country sleep.
Cheers to you, Lisa and and Cheers to Lake Myers!

On the hike around the lake you see a great variety of trees, mostly pine, but also maple, oak and birch. Great outcrops of the Canadian shield that show the layers of sediment compressed over millions of years. The water in the lake is pristine because it's constantly being renewed by the natural ice cold springs that feed it. It takes about an hour to hike all around Myers Lake, and my favorite thing to do afterwards is to strip off the sweaty clothes and dive into the refreshing lake for a swim across the bay!!

While it may seem obvious that a good hike through a forest or up a mountain can cleanse your mind, body, and soul, science is now discovering that hiking can actually change your brain… for the better! Hiking in Nature Can Stop Negative, Obsessive Thoughts Aside from the almost instant feeling of...
