When you travel internationally with kids, your checked luggage carries everything

Bags get delayed, lost, or mislabeled at the airport.
And when it does, the airline will ask you: what does your bag look like? What was inside?

If you don't have answers, you're starting from zero.

If you're in Canada, you may have seen the news out of Toronto this week. Airport workers were caught switching luggage tags, placing bags under travelers' names without their knowledge. Another reason to document everything before your checked bag leaves your hands.

As a frequent traveler mom, I do these things every time and you should too

- Film your bag at check-in so you have proof of what you handed over
-Use colored bags or suitcase cover because everyone has a black suitcase and you need to describe yours fast
- Use a luggage tracker so you know exactly where your bag is
- Keep your baggage receipt until you get home (you need the tracking number)
- Put contact info inside so the airline can reach you
- Know what's inside because they will ask you

Save this before your next international travel.

One thing I learned after extensive traveling with kids: airports are not waiting rooms.

Kids are excited. They want to move as long as they don't bother anyone. They want to look at planes. They’re out of routine.

So instead of trying to make them sit quietly for hours, this is what we do:

• Let them walk as much as possible before boarding
• Find a play area if the airport has one
• Use a lounge when it makes sense for space, food, and a reset
• Snacks before they get hungry, not after
• Window time: watching planes is free entertainment
• Screen time is okay on travel days
• Family boarding gives us time to settle without rushing

➡️ But also preparing myself that day will /might be chaotic and that's ok! Someone may have a meltdown or want to p*e when you are lining up at security. But that's part of the trip. I try not to stress about it

Marrakech 🇲🇦 with kids is one of those trips that surprises you.

Here’s our favorite family things to do there:

• The souks
The small shopping streets inside the medina.
Spices, lanterns, leather, little shops, cats everywhere. Just walk and explore.

• Jemaa el-Fna at sunset
The main square and the heart of Marrakech.
Food stalls, music, performers, and the best evening atmosphere.

• Bahia Palace + Ben Youssef Madrasa
Beautiful historic buildings with courtyards and open space to walk around.
Easy half-day activity

• Jardin Majorelle + Jardin Secret
Two beautiful gardens when you need a break from the busy medina.
Calmer, quieter, and perfect with kids

• La Palmeraie + Atlas Mountains
La Palmeraie is great for camel rides and family activities.
Atlas Mountains is the best easy day trip outside the city.

• The food
Tagines, grilled meat, fresh bread, fruit, and fresh juice everywhere.
Very easy destination for picky eaters.

• Private hammam
For the moms: book one.
Traditional Moroccan spa experience and the perfect reset.

Save this for your Morocco 🇲🇦 trip.

Not every family trip needs the biggest or fanciest hotel. And the kids don't care about that 😄 (but we adults care)

Especially for short trips, when you know you’ll be out exploring most of the day, the best hotel is the one that makes life easier.

A good breakfast(better if its included in the room cost). A pool the kids will talk about all week. A comfortable room where everyone can rest and play.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a beautiful and luxury hotel too but family travel is all about balance. And Sometimes convenience wins.

Save this of you always feel stresed about packing 👇🏾

After packing for family trips more times than I can count, I don’t pack while choosing items anymore.

I pull everything out first so I can:
• See what’s missing before the trip
• Avoid overpacking random things
• Finish one person completely before moving to the next
• Stop reopening the suitcase 10 times

The goal is to see everything clearly before anything gets packed away.

Part 2 coming: how I actually organize everything inside the suitcase.

What’s the most stressful part of packing for you?

The easiest way to visit Rome Italy with kids 🇮🇹👇

We used the Red Route and it made sightseeing so much easier.

A hop-on hop-off bus means you’re not stuck on one tour: you can get off at any stop, explore, stop for lunch or gelato, then catch the next bus when you’re ready.

📍Best stops with kids: Colosseum, Piazza Venezia, Circo Massimo, Piazza Barberini (Trevi Foutain), and the Vatican area

🎟️ You can buy tickets online, through the app, or from the booths and people selling tickets around the main tourist areas. I’d still recommend booking online first and downloading the app

A few real-life tips:
• Use a baby carrier if you can
• If bringing a stroller, make sure it folds fast and easily
• Plan your lunch stop before everyone gets tired
• Don’t try to see everything in one day

Sometimes the touristy thing is actually the smartest thing.

After traveling internationally with my kids at every age, each stage is different, some are harder and these are the little things that helped most ✈️

• 0–6 months: baby carrier over stroller. Keep feeds simple and always have one easy change of clothes close by. Best age!

• 6–12 months: they want movement and want to touch everything. Small toys, walking breaks, and lots of snacks help a lot.

• 1–2 years: hardest stage. Let them move as much as possible before boarding, and board early so you have time to settle in without rushing. Plan for a not so pleasant flight😁

• 2–3 years: show them the airplane, let them carry a little backpack, and even do their own seatbelt. Small things make them excited.

• 4–5 years: they understand what’s happening, follow airport routines, and can manage their own little suitcase.

• 6+: they’re independent, can sit longer, enjoy the trip more, and actually remember it.

For every stage: snacks, water, and screen time rules do not count on travel day 😅

Save this and send it to a parent who is traveling soon
