It's another beautiful morning at the Fundy Discovery Site. The wind has died down and the Bore's are high. Did you know that Nova Scotia has 56 Lighthouses? Why not pop into the Visitor Information Centre today to find out more and while you are here take in the power of Mother Nature as the Bore arrives at approximately 1:17 pm (be here by 1 pm). This is our last weekend of the season so come out, learn about the Bore, Nova Scotia Lighthouses, take a stroll on the Cobequid Trail and let the kids have some fun in our natural playground.

Happy International Geodiversity Day! This year's global theme is "Geodiversity on our Doorstep"—and here along the Minas Basin, we are fortunate to step outside right into millions of years of Earth history.

From the dramatic basalt cliffs of Cape d'Or to the red sandstone of Five Islands and the fossil-bearing strata along the Parrsboro shore, our Geopark "doorstep" holds stories of supercontinents colliding, ancient volcanic flows, and the world's highest tides shaping our coastline every single day.

Geodiversity isn't just about ancient rocks; it's the foundation for our local ecosystems, our soil, our water systems, and the culture of Mi'kma'ki that has connected people to this landscape since time immemorial.

October 1st marks Treaty Day in Nova Scotia, signaling the start of Mi'kmaw History Month across Mi'kma'ki.

On this day in 1752, the Mi'kmaq and the British Crown entered into a Treaty of Peace and Friendship that established an annual tradition of gathering to renew peace, friendship, and mutual respect. Unlike many other treaties across North America, the Peace and Friendship Treaties did not yield or surrender lands or resources; instead, they established how we must peacefully coexist.

As a UNESCO Global Geopark located within unceded Mi'kmaw territory, we recognize that we are all Treaty people. We remain committed to practicing Two-Eyed Seeing (Etuaptmumk), honoring Treaty rights, and working alongside Mi'kmaw partners to steward these lands and waters together.
