You’re invited to Culture as Medicine, a special event celebrating the unveiling of a new public artwork by Mi’kmaw artist Alan Syliboy in the foyer of the Sir Charles Tupper Medical Building, alongside the launch of The Journey So Far, the major new publication accompanying his 2024 retrospective at Dalhousie Art Gallery.
Presented in partnership with Dalhousie Art Gallery, Nimbus Publishing, and Dalhousie’s Faculty of Medicine, this event celebrates art as a powerful way of honouring people, place, cultural memory, and community.
Alan Syliboy’s work draws on ancient Mi’kmaq petroglyphs to create a contemporary visual language rooted in identity, ancestral knowledge, and connection across generations. Bringing his work into the Tupper Foyer is part of a broader effort to create inclusive and welcoming campus spaces where people feel safe, respected, and seen.

This Saturday our second Laser Tag tournament of 2026 begins with the Spring Showdown 4v4! Taking place in the Rath Eastlink Community Centre arena, it is going to make for a true spectacle as the teams battle it out to see who will come out on top.

Competitive Laser Tag is a 4v4 format with teams playing through a variety of different objective based game modes. It is a game of angles, communication, and coordinated strategy unlike anything else out there.

CAMP REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!!

Be sure to register early, as camps fill up quickly!

Fun in the Sun Day Camp Registration will be open for kids aged 5-12 (those 5 years of age must be entering Grade 1 in September 2026).

All camps will run from 8:30am-4:00pm.

Register online using PlayFinder at playfinder.ca (make sure to select Colchester County in the top right corner) or in person at 1 Church Street, Truro NS. Colchester Recreation is located on the 3rd floor. Due to construction, please access the Municipality of Colchester building through the back entrance by the parking lot.

Fun in the Sun Day Camp Registration is opening soon for kids aged 5-12 (those 5 years of age must be entering Grade 1 in September 2026).

Fun in the Sun Day Camp registration will open on Tuesday, May 19th at 12:00PM on PlayFinder

Make sure to create an account on playfinder.ca in preparation for day camp registration.

Steps for creating an account on PlayFinder:
-Go to playfinder.ca
-Once the account is made, please fill out the "family profile" form.
-Make sure your county is selected as Colchester at the top right.

Are you looking to get your steps in tomorrow in the beautiful weather?

Join us at noon for Nova Scotia Walk Day, as we walk the Cobequid Trail starting at the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus.

We will walk approximately 3.8km for about an hour. All ages welcome. No pre-registration required.

Please note the trail is gravel and has slight inclines.
