Mount Terry Fox Trip Report
I didn’t think I could get a sunburn the first week of October but I managed to get rosy cheeks after a full day out.
With the annual Terry Fox run in the fall, Mount Terry Fox was the perfect objective for Brandon and I during our holiday in the Robson Valley.
The summit sits in Mount Terry Fox Provincial Park and the summit is at 2645 m.
The old trail follows the ridgeline with a lot of elevation gain and loss, while the new trail follows Teepee Creek before it opens up onto an old avalanche chute and winds its way onto the ridgeline.
This new route cuts off almost 10km!
Even so, it is still a pretty big day with 15 km total and elevation gain of just under 1700 m.
Once on the ridge, there are two false summits before you see the bulgy peak of Mount Terry Fox.
That last bulge offers an exciting finale to reach the very top where Terry Fox’s monument stands.
We happened to have an unbelievably perfect day and when we reached the ridge we had the most spectacular view of Whitehorn Mountain and Mount Robson.
This trip has inspired us with the possibility of offering a Robson Valley Hiker‘s retreat. Who would like to explore this beautiful piece of the Rocky Mountains with us?
