Luckily for me this grows in my backyard! Please don't take from City or Provincial parks. The soil needs these plants too! Parks are for everyone to learn about our wild plant friends!

🌿 If you have Field Horsetail growing on your land, you are sitting on a goldmine of free, premium hair care.

Instead of viewing Field Horsetail (Equisetum arvense) as an aggressive garden takeover, look at it as a dynamic accumulator. This living fossil acts like a subterranean pump, pulling pure, liquid silica from deep in the earth. Silica binds directly to hair proteins—instantly strengthening brittle strands, boosting shine, and soothing the scalp.

You can easily repurpose a single handful of this backyard plant into a zero-waste, high-end hair treatment today.

Instead of fighting it, harvest a handful for a zero-waste, premium hair rinse.

🌿 The 3-Step "Liquid Shine" Formula:

1. The Harvest: Snip the bright green, feathery stalks roughly two inches above the ground. (Avoid roadside ditches or treated lawns).

2.The Brew: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil, turn off the heat, and drop in a massive handful of fresh horsetail. Cover and let it steep until completely cool.

3.The Rinse: Strain out the plant matter. After your usual shampoo, slowly pour the infused water over your hair and massage your scalp. Do not rinse it out—let the silica dry right into your hair.

Wild horses, a reflection of not being tame. They do less damage on the land than 20 Cattle, they don't spread non native grasses as much, they are very intelligent and healthy and have learned to adapt and thrive in our wild Alberta. Which of these iconic symbologies that the wild horses represent, do you think is the reason the government always wants to get rid of them??
