The turquoise pools at Kuang Si Waterfall carry the name of a golden deer, said to have lived beneath a rock jutting from the falls until an earthquake brought it down in 2001.

Local legend holds that the sound of the water falling carried an echo strong enough to draw travelers from as far as China. The details shift slightly with each telling, as oral folklore does, but the sound still carries. These days, it's drawing Mawari Travel from even further.
