Touring planning on party days can be complicated. What if I told you to intentionally plan to visit Magic Kingdom on a day that the park closes at 6pm?? This is a strategy ideal for party days (like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party) because the early closing deters a lot of people with base tickets from burning up a day at Magic Kingdom that’s abbreviated. Therefore, the park is way less crowded throughout the day than usual.

BUT, even if you do have base tickets, you can accomplish SO much before 6pm when you do get booted and your day doesn’t have to be over-over. You can hit up Disney Springs and see a movie, go bowling or shopping. You can resort hop to check out where you might stay next. Or you can enjoy some time at your own resort.

I'll admit it - the first time we went to Walt Disney World, I let my husband and son visit Universal by themselves as I didn't think our young daughter would really have fun there. Recently, Universal has created an entire new DreamWorks Land for your little characters, completed work on a new Minions area and opened a massive, five world, brand new theme park aptly named Epic Universe because...you guys...It.Is.EPIC.

Sure, Walt Disney World has big plans, but in the meantime, big closures and construction walls could mean it is the perfect time to give that other guy in town a shot. With all the Universal Orlando Resort news coming out, what has piqued your interest the most?

There's just something about the words 'Private Island' right? While you will have to share it with some of your new cruise friends, Castaway Cay takes all your onboard favorites and brings them to a beautiful Bahamian island! Free unlimited food - check. I hate having my picture taken. BUT, Disney’s PhotoPass photographers have completely changed the way families capture memories in the parks and it's one of the places I will always get in the shot.

Can you imagine, the WHOLE FAMILY in that castle shot (and not just what you can see in a selfie), those funny attraction photos and not having to obsess over your phone settings to capture the right moment? Not to mention, oftentimes the PhotoPass photographers will give you an experience you’ll never forget!

It may not be Valentine’s Day today, but it IS National Couples Day. Of course Walt Disney World is fantastic for families, but did you also know it was the perfect romantic spot to take your better half? Let's look at some of my favourite options:

Disney’s Riviera Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (Deluxe): Both of these resorts are classy, elegant, and dreamy! They have fantastic dining and lounges, gorgeous grounds, and rooms that make you feel like you’re living the bougie life. Imagine watching fireworks at the GF beach or taking a moonlight Skyliner ride at Riviera.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort (Moderate): There is SO much to love at this resort! Whether you stay in the sleek tower or charming villages, you’ll fall in love. The dining is unparalleled for a Moderate resort!

Don't rule out Disney with no kids - there are amazing experiences to have in every corner.

I encourage strategic spending instead of an all-or-nothing approach and have lots of advice for your unique family. You don’t have to spend big in every category of your trip. A few smart choices can free up budget for something special like that signature dinner, a fireworks dessert party, or special event. Here are a few ideas on where to “scrimp” so you can splurge elsewhere:

- Get groceries delivered. Have snacks, breakfast items, and bottled water sent to your resort. You’ll save a bundle compared to buying everything in‑park.
- Buy souvenir‑style items at home. Light‑up toys, glow sticks, or themed shirts are a fraction of the price and kids are just as excited about them. Hot take: Don't buy a lot of souvenirs - pick one or two items that can be used for years like mugs or other household items.
- Pack carry‑on only. This might be hard, but skip checked‑bag fees and breeze through the airport. Personally, can't do it - but I have clients who are pros.
- Stick to quick service dining. There are so many fantastic quick service options at Disney and the portions are usually prime for sharing which frees up your budget.

I'll admit - it feels a little early for Halloween, but spooky season begins tonight in Walt Disney World. Are you wondering if it's worth buying tickets to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party? My answer: Boo‑Yeah!! Here’s why:

- The party runs 7 PM to midnight, but your party ticket gets you into Magic Kingdom as early as 4 PM. That’s up to 8 hours in the park without using a regular ticket.
- Trick or Treating is unlimited, seriously! Go through the lines as often as you want. They’ll hand you more bags, and yes… it’s the good stuff.
- Special meet‑and‑greets, rare costumes, and big character moments! You’ll spot princesses with their princes, the 7 Dwarfs, and classics all decked out in Halloween style.
- The Entertainment like: Mickey’s Boo‑To‑You Parade, Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, dance parties and more.
- Even some rides get fun overlays.

I always tell my clients you won't starve in Disneyland (even without sit-down reservations), BUT Disneyland Resort has so many incredible restaurants, why not plan on a couple of meals where you can relax in style. Here are a couple of my favourites:

Blue Bayou Restaurant:
You’re literally dining inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride; it’s pure Disney magic! Ask me about the secret dessert.

Storytellers Café in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa:
Character dining that feels calm, cozy, and full of woodland charm. Great for a break from the parks or even a non-park day.

Lamplight Lounge in Disney California Adventure Park:
Such a creative menu with waterfront views and nods to Pixar everywhere. The Lobster Nachos are legendary!

Thinking about a cool fall vacation in the parks? If you’re picturing brisk air and sipping a pumpkin spice latte while you stroll down Main Street, USA in cozy boots, NOPE. Florida’s version of fall is basically summer with pumpkins. And those lattes are iced.

In reality, here’s actually what to pack for a fall trip:
- Light, breathable layers: It’s still hot during the day, but mornings and evenings can be a little cooler.
- Shorts and t‑shirts: Bring plenty. You’ll live in them.
- Sun protection: Hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen because the Florida sun doesn’t care what season it is.
- Poncho or light rain jacket: For those afternoon showers.
- Comfortable walking shoes: Do NOT plan to break in a shiny new pair at Walt Disney World.
